2022 - Back in shape - Accountability and Rollicking thread
Discussion
Having spent most the year focused on 'a 6 pack is made in the kitchen' mantra, I was surprised to see how much exercise I've done this year. Work out as nearly 45 minutes every day, and this doesn't include most of my eBike commutes into work!
On wards and upwards, a 6 pack for 2023?? Not too sure, as like the others on here I enjoy food too much.

Not logged in for a while, but generally happy with progress. Was sitting at 11st 6lbs before December but put on a few lbs when I weighed last week (to be expected). Definitely the worse I have eaten this year - mince pies, Christmas cake etc.
Positives
I've ran 546km since the start of July and completed 2x 10k races.
Looking back to last year, had never got into running before but broke the mental block I had.
Think I will take up a new hobby next year to sit alongside the running. A few mates are doing kick boxing and others do Cross Fit, so might give that a try.
Next week will be back to the old routine and eating healthy again.
Keep going guys :-)

Great job. well done, particularly on the two races. It's a very personal thing, but I find cycling (with mates) a great balance to running (generally on my own). Positives

Those huel RTD aren't THAT great.
They're about 400cal if memory serves me right for 20g protein. Add a banana to that and you're knocking of the door of a 500cal lunch, which is nearly a Tesco sandwich meal deal (depending on what you go for)
I'm not saying it's bad (far from it), and if it works for you then that's great. But there are other ways of getting equal or more protein in you for way less calories, if that's your goal. I really enjoy grenade bars which are about 220calories and have 20g of protein in them and are also really tasty and filling.
Protein is easily solved without expensive powders, shakes and other cocktails. Just pick up a cooked chicken from the supermarket if you want 'easy' and fresh, or in Morries they do other cooked meats at the hot food counter. For cold meats, there's tons of choice from fresh packet meats to tinned meats. They're about 400cal if memory serves me right for 20g protein. Agreed, however it's harder if you're a vegetarian, the only veggy grenade bars are the dark choc and raspberry ones. Everything else has gelatine in. Ambleton said:

Nuts are full of protein. Peanuts (actually legumes), almonds, pistachios, cashews and walnuts are only just behind meats when it comes to protein content ratio.Piginapoke said:
What happened in October?
Came off my pedal bike whilst communiting to work. Hit a kerb, 20kg+ of bike/gear went into my ribs. Not a scratch on the limbs but couldn't move for 48hrs and it me 4 weeks to get back ok the bike!Weight actually went down in September/October as I couldn't even eat properly for about 2 weeks.
Lesson learnt, getting old = more care needed!! The body is 100% not what it use to be.

88.7 today, up 7.3 kg from a couple of weeks ago . However, that follows a pizza and belly full of beer last night as early NY celebrations as some of us have jetted off today to warmer climates. No more crap for me so I should be heading in the right direction again next week.
Can I haz early check-in for next Friday? o/ 87.5 today so I'm done for the week already .Piginapoke said:

Started the year at 83kg.
Few Parkruns, loads of training runs, couple of 10K (MOKrun & Isle of Mull) then GNR in September by which time I was down to 78kg). Few hundred miles on my bike too.
Sadly since October running & cycling have been limited by weather and cold. Hate running when it's too cold as it affects aging joints, wet roads give me wet shoes and wet feet, paths are very slippery due to leaves which also get all over the bike.
Weight now 83kg again.
