Booked in for Kenalog Injection tomorrow in Bristol

Hopefully get rid of this horrible bunged up feeling + watery and gritty eyes
I haven't read all of this thread, but wanted to reply. I had this injection around 20 years ago, and the following week after having it was amazing. No symptoms at all. Felt like I was cured. However - it wore off pretty fast for me, and I was hit with what felt like a months worth of symptoms in one go! I felt worse after.

I did however find locally sourced honey helped me the most.

Just for context I'm slowly growing out of it, but still take 1x Cetirizine and 1x Loratadine morning and evening, use nose spray, barrier balm, and hayfever wipes.

Hi,

Can anyone who's had the kenalog injection tell me if it actually works and how long it takes to have a effect.

I've tried all the different tablets nothing works.

Thanks,

Danny

Allevia for me is working wonders.

I've had the kenelog injection a few times, also works well, but to be honest the allevia has stopped me having any issues this year. Just take one a day every morning before I eat.

Another positive experience with Allevia here. My symptoms have not gone entirely but considering the very high pollen level at the moment, I'm doing really well, as is my wife whose symptoms appear to have gone completely!

Brilliant news, it’s debilitating without the right stuff and this has worked wonders for me, glad it’s helping some people.

Ive had a double dose of the jab and so far my hay fever is 99% gone. Mine gets so bad my throat feels like it closes up, I struggle to breath and I struggle to see. It's near on crippling for me, so having it down to maybe 1-2 sneezes a day is a miracle for me. I'm hoping it lasts till September

Having used Fexofenadine all year making no difference I got booked in for the Kenalog Jab last Thursday.

Since having the Jab the sneezing and itchy throat seemed to have gone but my eyes were still streaming and itchy, today is the first day I've been out properly though as I work from home and it appears to have made zero difference to me.

Nose running like a tap, sneezing constantly my eyes are on the verge of being scratched out.

Can anyone suggest anything else?

Have you tried a nasal spray? I find pirinase effective when tablets aren't enough

I find the nasal sprays help the running nose and sneezing , I use Superdrug Allergy eye drops to stop the sore eyes certainly helps and always wear sunglasses when out

Anyone else think this has been an especially bad year ?

I hate you laugh I too bought it off this recommendation.

Feel spaced out and drowsy on it.

You just have to try different things and see what suits you. Fexofenadine (Allevia) is great for me but I felt dreadful when I tried Acrivastine (Bendryl)

I've tried them all. Every bloody one seems to have side effects <sigh>. Funnily enough, Acrivastine was better than most.

I've done the local honey, yamoa powder, stinging nettles, etc. None of that worked...unsurprisingly...but desperation leads to trying anything.

Weirdly, the only thing that stops it dead is hard exercise, but as soon as I stop... Taps on.

That sucks. I usually get away with a cetirizine or fexofenadine and add a pirinase spray when things get bad, but I find repeated use of the sprays give me a bit of a nosebleed.

It's very location dependent too. Years ago I went to Japan for a few weeks on holiday, stocking up on expensive Zirtek before the generics were available. Zero symptoms when I get there...

Have you considered moving to another country? hehe

I had the kenalog injection on Wednesday paying £80. My eyes are still sticky and constent watering (seems worse in one eye for some reason) and wake up needing to cough and splutter.

She said it takes 5-10 days to have an effect but so far i am seeing nothing

I did ask about another dose but she said to wait 5 days but I'm not paying another 80!

I have considered wearing a pair of swimming goggles all day just to keep the pollen out my eyes it's that bad!

I've taken 2-3 tablets of all the different antihistamines together and none have a a effect

Funny you should say that. Never get it on Madiera... We did seriously think about emigrating there briefly.

Problem is rural N Y moors. It's as verdant as I've ever seen it this year. It's only a month of misery though laugh

My frustration is that it makes me clumsy and my sport is MTB. Not great bedfellows (two over the bars this month).

Related to that, I am usually streaming in June, with itchy eyes and generally feeling fed up, yet whenever I go and stay in the middle of a field in Le Mans for 4 days - not a drop, nor an itch in sight. Go figure!

That said, Allevia is working well for me this year. Still have a little sniffle here and there so, as another poster said previously, not a complete cure but has definitely improved things by a huge amount.

Seems popular this year - https://www.thesun.co.uk/health/19020009/hay-fever...
