That opinion is inevitably that I am being a massive wuss and a hypochondriac. Or in the case of thorns and splinters that I should quit moaning while she digs it out.

(To be fair, she did spot my enlarged thyroid and made me see my GP, who sent me to the hospital, who stabbed me in the throat with a needle and determined that it’s benign. And because I have ginge-level freckles she’s always checking them out for skin cancer. And she’s nagging me about my cholesterol. She does care, it just comes without any sympathy)

My wife (who is also a GP….) has just said the lack of sympathy is probably because she used it all up at work. Meanwhile both she and I can attest to all of the above.

That is her excuse too
