We contacted our in February and your symptoms and remaining effects remained for a while but a watered down version, last to go was the cough and the very last was phlegm that only made itself apparent once my head hit the pillow last thing, now, 4 mths after initial contraction, it’s all gone but that last bit held on forever!
Did you find you were choking with the phlegm at night and couldn’t sleep?

I’ve hardly slept the past 3 nights with the choking phlegm, tried more pillows (6 in a pyramid at one point) but nothing worked, I was keeping the OH awake so ended trying to sleep sitting up on the sofa.

Anything tips would be greatly appreciated, it’s really starting to get me down
Having had similar and a tendency to suffer from sinus issue and phlegm my only tip would be to try cutting down or eliminating all dairy products. It's not great if like me you like all those things like butter, milk, cream and cheese but I have found it to help to some extent.

Thanks, I’ll give that a go.

It’s the combination of the cough and phlegm that’s causing the lack of sleep, if I can starve the cough of phlegm then that will help with the choking lying down.

Echo this, i also suffer with sinus problems so maybe this amplifies things, agreed on avoiding lactose and dairy as it worsens things even if you dont have an intolerance.

At its height, i took a a specific product (expectorant) just before bed and gargled with salt water, that’ll get you 3 hours window for sleep but then needed to do again unfortunately, maybe this’ll help a bit, really really need your sleep to fight this thing off quicker.

Glad to hear you’re on the mend Old Merc. I look back at how poorly I was with some disbelief and shock but it’s nothing to what you went through.

What you are experiencing is very similar to me before I was hospitalised.
As you say, it’s doctor time. Get your lungs and heart thoroughly checked out.
Managed to see a Health Care Professional (triaged to a senior nurse practitioner) today, embarking on a series of tests to rule out thyroid and anaemia then it will be into various breathing, heart and lung related stuff….. my journey of discovery has begun!

Cheers, hope you’re still recovering…..

Something is doing the rounds (or a new covid strain?). Had a sore throat yesterday and bed bound in the evening with a fever spiking at 39C. Just hoping it doesn’t drag on like the lurgey at the start of the year!

Possibly new strain. We could do with some sunny hot weather to burn off the germs.

Must be nearly time for the 6th(?) covaids booster jab to protect everyone from deadly viruses as we approach winter. Once you have that you'll be reet for the winter, then you'll be ready for your 7th(?) jab come the spring time.

They're only doing over 65s in Wales.

Speak to your GP. They'll give you one if you ask them as they get paid to do them.

Eligibility for covid vaccinations is decided by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation. If you're not eligible you won't get one.

Symptoms started yesterday, pretty zonked but not as bad as 2021.

How long before you were up and about? Due to go on holiday on Thursday. Nuts.

My covid symptoms kicked in on Monday tested positive on Tuesday. Tuesday was the worst day by far but improved pretty quick since then. Few coughs still hanging about and nose is still blocked. Still really tired though.

It's here.
Covid and no immune system=not an ideal combination.

Felt drained on Thursday after work, but after a busy shift (over 13 miles of walking) so didn't think too much about it.
Poor sleep that night, tested as soon as i got up in the morning.
Phoned work at 0530 and back to bed shivering and sneezing.
Barely got out of bed for days.
Just feeling a little better today (Tuesday)
Rest of family all negative so still unsure where I got it from.
Had it before, but this felt worse this time.
Bad headaches
Not sure if its a different variant.

Hopefully getting through it now.

My wife and kids are now ill, first week back at school. It's definitely not skiving. One has a terrible cough and been sick, the others just feel sick and run down.

Haven't bothered testing for covid because what's the point, doesn't change anything.

I feel ok, but I guess it's only a matter of time.
