Oh them. Just ignore them, they’re just weird (I know this because we have one at the village pub).

What did they do before covid existed and we just had colds, coughs and flu?

Managed to get this on day one of a trip to New York a couple of weeks ago. Felt bloody awful, sweats, chills, shakes and coughs. Woke up hallucinating one night absolutely soaked with sweat.....grim. Then slept for 18 hours straight the next night.

Was awful for a week and now just have a cough that's outstayed it's welcome.

Tested negative throughout, just spent the time off my tits on flu meds.
Luckily for us we caught our bad dose more than likely on the plane home from NYC a week and a half ago.

So sorry to hear you had it whilst there. It really has been the worst time for us as a family and everyone says they’ve never felt so ill.

It was rotten luck but didn't totally ruin it! My wife came down with it as soon as we got home and she's still rough.

Emergency wards remain busy two years after the first COVID-19 vaccines arrived in Ontario in part because the virus depletes the body’s supply of T-cells, leaving young and old alike vulnerable to secondary infections, says a University of Waterloo immunologist.

T-cells are the front-line soldiers of the immune system, and the number of T-cells typically increases when the body is fighting off an infection, said Barb Katzenback, who studies viruses.

“Individuals who are infected with COVID have many fewer T-cells,” said Katzenback. “That’s a problem for us because T-cells are a really important part of our immune system that helps defend us against infection.”

But at least three studies show COVID-19 actually kills off a significant number of the body’s T-cells, so even when a someone recovers from COVID, they are at a heightened risk for other viral, bacterial and fungal infections.

I'm in the club - on holiday from work, and got a humdinger of a cold, with coughing and tiredness.
Been a week since first onset, but I have friends who are in the same state, so not expecting a bounce back tomorrow.

re - what did people do before Covid - one of my friends from schooldays has always had SOMETHING, some secret knowledge, through those decades.

We were out for dinner the night Nancy Pelosi's house was broken into to.
He told us that he had the real info - 77 year old Paul Pelosi's secret lover had beaten him up. And police arrived to find the attacker in his underpants.

He was passing on this insider knowledge to me and his kid and school friend of kid.
I felt it necessary to look up the source - and it was from a site which had also said that Hilary Clinton had did in 2016 and a body double had taken her place since.

So, just to gain some brownie points on here, I'd like to share the news that the Hillary Clinton you might have seen on the Graham Norton show, is in fact a body double.

I've been ill for over 3 weeks now. Recovering slightly now but not 100%. First two weeks were hell - cough, sneezing, shivers, aches then moved to my sinuses.

Sleep has been awful. My Garmin body battery measurement hasn't been above 50 since before I got ill, used to wake up with it being 100 daily but currently it's in the 20s most days. Resting heart rate was initially really high and even now still a good 5-10bpm above my previous baseline.

Usually I run 3 or 4 times a week but I can't muster the energy to run for more than 20 mins and my lungs just can't cope.

In our house I reckon it's flu. The wife had her jab just before I got ill and has been absolutely fine. Kids also had flu vaccines and got away with just a few days of feeling a bit rubbish. I didn't get around to getting my jab.

I've got some sort of lurgy, a relatively mild version it seems.

Started on Saturday evening when out for drinks, had a sore throat (right hand side) which came on when I was already out.

That's still here, and since yesterday coughing more, feeling generally run down and lots of sneezing today. Mouth generally aches/hurts.

Will it look too dodgy if I ring in sick for tomorrow and Friday (not back till 27th)...?

In fairness we've got lots of staff off at work and we're not a big place, management made me laugh when I mentioned being ill and potentially off, he said "you may as well do, everyone else is &£#£&+@ off!"

See how I feel overnight as I'm in and out of doctors and dentists all day for work. Probably just end up masking up again.

Looks like I've joined the lurgy club this Xmas, day before I break up as well FFS laugh Lying on my armchair shivering under a blanket in a warm room, achy muscles, dry chest and throat with an occasional cough, and it took me half an hour to muster to the energy to get myself a glass of wine. Also Mrs TRD is out tonight so I've got to sort out my own tea, and earlier I thought it was a good idea to cook myself lamb cutlets instead of a ready meal. banghead
Well I was making a joke about it before but jeez it has absolutely floored me. Barely manage to eat or drink anything, can barely get off the chair, but if I do it'll be to sick, and I feel like I've been drugged with some strong sedatives. Grim.

I’m ten days into this club. Day1 was just unpleasantly tiring and tough, D2-D6 were severe coughing that I think tore muscles or ligaments around the bottom of my rib cage, 2-3 hours per day of broken sleep and SpO2 in between 89 and 93 and living on codiene and paracetamol . D7 saw the coughing and productivity reduce but still low SpO2 (92/93) and a dry tickle cough - D10 now and my sinuses have decided to block up.

Let's not turn this into another covid thread. There's enough of that elsewhere if it's a debate you want to have.
