Struggled yesterday with diet, went over calories by a fair amount, entirely my own fault, no self control...back on today, 3 mile walk at 05.45am and fruit during day, baked spud later, all pre prepped so no excuses. Hope to have dropped another pound or so by Saturday morning
It's a marathon, not a sprint! Sounds like you're back on it so don't beat yourself up!Sohee Lee Carpenter has some good views on this: "Did you know eating ice cream is sometimes the healthiest thing you can do?” She believes that panicking over the unhealthiness of food can often be more unhealthy than the food itself. “Stressing out over the pizza is worse for you than just eating the pizza and moving on.”
Havn't bothered with weighing myself for about 7-8 weeks but just back from the local tailors having had 3 pairs of jeans took in at the waist by 1-2 inches depending on the brand, so a result there.
Also took a vac-pac full of shirts down from the attic which hasn't been opened since I moved in here a few years ago. A Ralph Lauren Custom Fit size medium almost fitting me. When it was stored away I couldn't get any buttons shut (cheers dad bod), now i'd say its about 90% ok fit-wise. Purchased 12 years ago this May exactly (anniversary gift so easy to calculate). If I can get that shirt to fit spot on i'll be absolutely delighted with the progress. For reference, my most recent Ralph Lauren purchases were Custom Fit XL so nearly 2 sizes dropped.
Whats working... Basically dropping the ultra-processed nonsense out. Cans of juice (or "pop") replaced with sparkling water and wedge of lemon. Finding the time to cook lunches and dinner from scratch. Plenty veg, plenty lean proteins (mostly tofu), plenty fruit, plenty carbs aswell believe it or not. Skipping breakfast and supper - turns out for me it was just habit. Don't need them, was never hungry in the morning but I bought into this most important meal of the day propaganda and would scoff cereal and added sugar for no reason. Likewise, if i eat a big enough tea with enough fibre and protein i'm not hungry in the evening.
Exercise i don't get to the gym nearly enough. Doing a degree, plus a job and family its time consuming and knackering. But generally I do walk at least 2 miles most days. Thats not planned walking, its just walks from house to bus stop, bus stop to work and repeat. At work I generally get at least 10k steps in too. Days off i'll do some weights at the gym.
Things i'm working on... Giving up the "added sugar" or sweet treats. I'm not concerned about carbs as I move enough and being vegan my food choices are pretty limited already. However I was a sucker for a sweet/cake/biscuit/yoghurt. That much of a sucker i'd buy a pack of Oreos, tell myself i'll have 3 after tea but 99.9999% end up finishing the packet - every single time. Been doing some reading on sugar and how addictive it is, and how when we "reward" ourselves with it we flood our brains with dopamine meaning we consume far far to much of the stuff. Only 4 days but havn't had a sweet treat after tea or sweet drink, not much but its a start. Not missed it to be honest.
Other stuff I need to work on... PINTS. But one thing at a time eh

I started my weight loss journey around 6/7 weeks ago. I started at 183lbs and this morning down to 169lbs. I have around 30-40lbs to lose and have an online coach in place until October to help me.
So far I’ve been weight training 3 times a week and tagging a 250 calorie cardio on the end of 2 of these sessions - eating around 1600-1700 calories and luckily I have also been helping out someone with their housing project and doing all manner of physical labour the last 2 weeks which has really helped albeit made me very achey. Nothing beats working on site as a labourer.
I was fat shamed on here on the tattoo thread some time ago and I’m determined to get my arse in gear this year.

Some great efforts on the thread. It's really helped keep better habits on my radar even with what life throws at me. I only got my diet back under control on Tuesday but another 0.4kg for the week which might be down to the rowing machine (unless of course you don't believe in such witchcraft). I look like someone who rows everyday, but also likes the occasional pie .
After some initial bigger drops, it comes off slower (and goes on quicker). 9.2kg for the year - creeping towards 10kg and then looking forward to getting under 100kg for the first time since 2019.
Is the wiki safe these days?

Good efforts! Yup, very easy to add to and update these days.Wife is away tonight which would normally have meant a pizza and a few beers on the sofa for me but planning to substitute that for a healthy tea with the kids, a Zwift ride and a protein shake, what has the world come to?
Just weighed myself and even though exercising the most I've done for over decade, I've put on 3 kilos since Jan. Not too fussed as summer comes my appetite will drop but cray really as going gym 5 times a week. Failed in weight loss, won in fitness.

I’ve dipped under 110kg, so well over 12kg since the start of the year. Excellent.
But, each 2.5kg dropped gives me a reward. The problem
Is that getting under 110 delivers me a gym membership.
I haven’t been to the gym in over 10 years.
I went yesterday, took it easy but I’m still hilariously sore today. I’m assuming tomorrow will be worse.
Keep going, all!

First week of holidays and have several meals out and a couple of nights out organised, so there will be no calorie counting just more aggressive cardio and training as I have my days back. I will not, however, be buying and eating a load of high calories rubbish because I'm off so this should mitigate any excess from the meals etc to a degree. Will be long walk, bike ride and legs day at the gym today. Back to the app next week.
Started being more careful about what I was eating and cutting out snacking. Also ramped up exercise by doing much more work as we are renovating our house and outside space.
Mid Jan I was 14st 6lb, yesterday I was 12st 12lb, very pleased with that and being into the 12s. Will keep on and see where I naturally plateau out.

I've been a naughty boy on two counts.
Count 1. Ten days in Tenerife on a all inclusive in March has set me back. I've not really got back on the wagon and my weight has crept up over the last 4 weeks. It's definitely more challenging when spring approaches and I have more stuff on and it's easier to get distracted by junk food. Overall in still way down for the year, just lost that focus.
Count 2. The road bike I promised myself if I hit 90 kg has been bought prematurely after a marketplace bargain appeared. Although now I have a permanent zwift bike and an outdoor bike, I have no excuse for not exercising more as the weather improves.

None of us need any equipment or time to not stuff unnecessary food into our mouths......Far easier said than done especially with all the chocolate, cakes, sweets, that's everywhere during Easter. Not eatting too much is still the single biggest enabler of weight loss not doing more exercise etc.
Excuses is what we all need to stop making.
had a bank holiday weekend, not expecting any losses tomorrow.
Friday - Mcdonalds
Saturday - away on a campsite - dirty takeaway though it did have mixed kebab without the naan.
Sunday - still away - sandwiches, then fish and chips in a local restaurant
Monday - still away - so sandwiches and then a light tea once home.
moderate levels of alcohol consumption along with some general snacking
Positive would be that I've exceeded 200 calories of walking for the last 4 days
