I'd say it was due to a bug...

Covid increased mine...
Me too
I got tinnitus when I got covid. It was the weirdest thing I’ve ever had. Sat watching tv and it just suddenly started from nowhere. Lasted for 2 days then just as soon as suddenly as it started it just stopped. It was like someone switched it on then off.

Dont want that again, it was awful, genuinely wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
I also started suffering from tinnitus when I got Covid. But unlike you, I still have mine. Some days are worse than others. And I don't know how people get used to it.

I got tinnitus mid June of this year. At first it wasn’t that bad . Then it got really bad about two weeks after. It got so loud right before going to bed. I would wake up every half an hour. This went for about a month. I got a hearing test and came out fine. It’s gotten better for some reason. The only thing I hear are crickets when it’s silent but it doesn’t bother me anymore but it’s not loud. As long as it doesn’t get worse I’ll be happy.
Wish I only heard the crickets.

Mine is pretty constant but does elevate during stress periods.

About 18 months ago that transitioned into hearing a constant background hum - which I thought was location specific but follows me. Really annoying

I’m ‘lucky’ as I’ve had it all my life (well, age 6 as was deaf 0-6 with lots of operations). For me the sound of silence is that. It just is what it is for me.

An Australian study suggests tinnitus may be associated with adenovirus and mRNA products.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/...

Study Abstract said:
Introduction
Evidence regarding audiovestibular adverse events post COVID-19 vaccination to date has been inconclusive regarding a potential association. This study aimed to determine if there was an increase in audiovestibular events following COVID-19 vaccination in South-eastern Australia during January 2021–March 2023.

Methods
A multi-data source approach was applied. First, a retrospective observational analysis of spontaneous reports of audiovestibular events to a statewide vaccine safety surveillance service, SAEFVIC. Second, a self-controlled case series analysis using general practice data collected via the POpulation Level Analysis and Reporting (POLAR) tool.

Results and conclusions
This study is the first to demonstrate an increase in general practice presentations of vertigo following mRNA vaccines (RI = 1.40, P <.001), and tinnitus following both the Vaxzevria® adenovirus vector and mRNA vaccines (RI = 2.25, P <.001 and 1.53, P <.001 respectively). There was no increase in hearing loss following any COVID-19 vaccinations. Our study, however, was unable to account for the potential of concurrent COVID-19 infections, which literature has indicated to be associated with audiovestibular events.

I went deaf about 8 weeks ago, I have fluid behind my eardrum. I need to have gromets fitted.

It's ovbiously made the tinnitus seem worse.

Sorry to hear that (no pun intended).
