If I go into the biscuit tin to get a chocolate digestive, I will return two minutes later and get another six. I could easily demolish a large family apple pie in five minutes, put a packet of crisps in front of me I'll not refuse them, even if I'm not hungry.
I can resonate with this. I'm in.

I'm 92kg now, i want the number to start with a 7, even if that's 79.999999kg.

I've just lost a stone in under 4 weeks. Eat less and make sure it's food you recognise as opposed to processed stuff. Keep the meals simple and avoid treats. Ease off the carbs. On saturday or sunday treat yourself to something nice that you'll really enjoy. The key is keep at it as your body will fight to go back to it's former weight.

You'll find that after 3-4 weeks you're definately more mobile and lighter on your feet, nimble.

Oh have set meal times and don't eat before them. Stick with the plan and it'll happen. Good luck.

I am Wacky Racer and I'm a compulsive eater. (With a nod to the AA)

I have decided now is the time for drastic action biggrin

If I go into the biscuit tin to get a chocolate digestive, I will return two minutes later and get another six. I could easily demolish a large family apple pie in five minutes, put a packet of crisps in front of me I'll not refuse them, even if I'm not hungry.

I am fairly fit, slim build, but like many blokes would like to lose flab from my midriff, nowhere else.

I don't really want to kill myself at the gym, (I have an expensive running machine, but hardly ever go on it), I just want to lose it gradually by cutting out the crap, and if I really put my mind to something I will do it.

I would consider buying a rowing machine, but would rather not.

What makes things worse, is since retiring I am not as active as I used to be, plus I am currently waiting for a replacement knee op, although I somehow managed to walk thirty miles in a day last year to see if I could still do it.

My Details.

Age 70

Height 5ft 8" (173cms)

Weight today 12st 8lb (176lbs)

Target weight 10st 8lbs (or less) in 12 months time.

Also I don't want to eat a load of stuff like celery, just basically cut down on portion sizes and completely cut out chocolate, cakes etc.

Anyone care to join me? if you would like to lose more great.
You sound like me, albeit you're older and not as heavy.

I'm doing exactly what you are essentially. Exercise is walking and a half hour dumbbell session 3 times a week.

I also love sweets but I've made room for a small bar of dark chocolate each night in my calories calculations.

I do actually eat quite healthy but I actually enjoy the food which helps, but I'm not going to cut everything out either. Still enjoying my weekends mostly to the full, but takeaways are banished and I eat mindfully, but that's it.

I've lost a stone so far doing that. Saying that I don't think tomorrow's weigh in is going to be what I want to see, but I have had a couple of weeks where I've sort of caved in *slightly* along with some particularly heavy weekends, but fully intend to get fully back on board next week.

I'm not sure that's strictly true, but I must admit I've been fairly hungry fairly often since I started this endeavour, so there may be a little truth in that. You get used to it though.

Certainly I have heard it said that a good gauge of portion sizes is when you've finished before you actually feel full.

This hasnt been my experience.

In fact opposite is possibly true. When I have bad days and starting eating loads of crap,I become more hungry all day, as some part of me is alert to opportunity of a fat and sugar binge, and keeps egging me on.

When I'm being good, or even fasting, body stops it's whining, and I don't get the same pangs at all.

Randomly hopped onto the scales this morning (normally do a Monday morning weigh in) - 0.9 down this week so far, feels a bit excessive. I wonder if I put weight on over the weekend, be interesting to see

Gah, 0.2kg down after 0.3 the wrong direction last week (although the Fat Club scales had me at a small loss last week). Treat day Friday last week wasn't too bonkers and then a really good week of food choices (Slimming World style). Here comes the BUT...

I went to the docs earlier this week, returned after a couple of days as things had worsened - he referred me instantly to hospital for on-call surgery, spent all day waiting, having scans etc. They offered me a procedure under a general on the day, or take some pain relief and better antibiotics and it's a job under local another day. I chose the latter (even though once it settles down it'll probably be a 2-year waiting list). But, the meds have me somewhat backed up - so a 0.2kg loss really feels like a result.

Good to see some new joiners, and others doing well. I'll try and fire off some email nudges to people who've not updated over the weekend. Wacky - I'm an insatiable binge eater, I've managed to find an approach that works. I can also fill myself up on 'allowed' foods that include healthily cooked roast spuds, unlimited rice & pasta etc. I'm sure my approach is not ideal - but it works for me and I'm very poorly wired.

I missed my regular Friday weigh-in last week and as I'm a little more self-indulgent over the weekend I delayed until Monday but frankly the result was, as anticipated, unimpressive biglaugh.

Anyway, today's weigh-in came in at 94.5kgs some 1.5kgs over 2 weeks. I've broken my 15st threshold and have achieved over 50% of my target weight loss since 6th January.

Perhaps what is more surprising is I have really grown in to the 16/8 (or in reality 17/7) fasting routine to the extent that I really think I could maintain it as a lifestyle change (including the significant reduction in alcohol consumption) although it may be a bit early to be making any rash promises smile.

2lb off this week, but I'm happy with that. Completed on the new house today so will have to be careful to lay off the takeaways while we get settled in!

No more than 500 cals today, probably 400 ish, 200 calories in liquid. Pasta splurge tomorrow, no alcohol for the forseeable.

This isn't healthy and won't be doing your body much good. Far better to eat more calories but the right kind of food than starve yourself. Just cut out the rubbish, eat sensibly and the weight will come off.

Is it not better to weigh in daily and track the trend. Weekly weigh ins can be effected by fluctuations.

Well I’ve come to the realisation that I need to lose weight, jumped on the scales today and I’m 15 stone, the heaviest I’ve ever been. I’m 6’4” so although not a huge weight the bmi calculator says I’m in the overweight category and I feel like it, clothes no longer fit etc.

Ideally I’d like to lose 2-3 stone and thinking of doing the 5:2 diet and generally cutting down portion sizes. I know my issue is food and also beer so that’s what I will focus on.

Ether can work, even daily weigh ins can show a difference of 3 or 4lb, do it at the same time each day of course, just don't become obsessive about the numbers.

Under 13 stone now (82kg) so pleased with the progress. Certainly look and feel a lot better.

Jan weight loss was 1kg
Feb weight loss was 4.5kg

Same diet and same exercise. The only difference is that I’ve had a couple of pints each week in Feb.

Exercise is going well and my strength is still going up despite the weight loss.

Looking back at old photos I need to drop another 5kg to get into the shape I want so will keep doing what I’m doing until I get there. Aiming for end of April/May.

The only solution to this is don't buy them in the first place. I'm the same. Fig rolls are my guilty pleasure, if I buy a packet then I will have eaten most of it the same day.
If you resist the temptation to buy while you're in the supermarket, by the time you get out you will have forgotten about them and you won't miss them.

I’d say a trend is best followed with weekly or bi weekly weigh-ins. I guess it’s what works for the individual, but reading the disappointment / obsession on here when people are weighing themselves, I’d suggest removing weigh ins, do the hard work by focusing on what you’re eating, and judge yourself in the mirror.

If numbers help you, great, but a daily weigh in is going to fluctuate around a lot more than weekly.
