Well done WC! You've prompted me to post as well!

9lbs in the last 4 or so weeks, including a holiday to Berlin where I ate and drank what I wanted!

@lost_BMW

Is it possible you are not eating enough? I remember you saying you are quite big, with the workouts you do maybe 1200-1600 is to low.

I've now dropped 11.5kg, from 126.7kg down to 115.2kg smile

There is no doubt that I could do it much faster, but the nest thing at the moment is that I get to still eat whatever I want, and rely on 120-odd miles a week cycling to work to take the weight off! cloud9

^^ well done!

Great way to lose weight and gain fitness.

Not giving yourself specific food rules or restrictions means it is more sustainable IMO :-)

I don't really think so. I've got lot's of experience with adding and losing weight and know what to expect and what works/doesn't work for me. In the past when I've lost quickly and for extended periods it's been ridiculous how much exercise I've needed to do and how little I could eat.

Last week I did loads of exercise but had too many carbs and just knew I wasn't losing. Two days of tighter eating and another drop...

One thing I've learned though is to move up and down over a week or so to keep the body from shutting down, into stave mode.

Whatever 'experts' say people do have different metabolisms and reaction to food intake/amounts and types, I can see it in my kids. They are twins, eat pretty much the same, do just as much running around as each other and one - who is the spit image of me - is way bigger and getting podgy so is starting to be watched/controlled but his brother is as skinny as the proverbial rake!

BUT... I've put on 7 lbs smile

@ lost_BMW

You are doing well to stick to a clean diet with kids in the house !
I have two boys and know how difficult it can be so well done.

I totally agree that everyone is different in terms of metabolism etc, some people can eat and eat and stay lean.

What is your target weight?

I'm in the groove now, with the right mind set so just know I can/will stick this through.

Yesterday was the 'worst' day since I started as we had a work colleagues lunch. I had ham and eggs - without the ham! - so 2 fried eggs and a small bowl of chips. No starter or desert, obvioulsy!

Apart from that it was protein bar, rice cakes, Philly Extra Light and a pur juice lolly so near to 2000c, over 18 hours. This will be very rare.

Did my workout today (v. high rep on purpose) without breakfast to make up for it and have had salad for lunch. Still, a pound down on Tuesday so disaster averted!

Target weight will be c.15 stone if I can retain the muscle mass, lower if not and would then build back slowly/sensibly from there - my lightest adult weight was 13st 13lb held for about 2 days after a starvation and 3 hour per day routine and I looked skinny at that.

Well I haven't been dieting for the last couple of months and have managed to put on the majority of the weight I had lost frown

I've now joined the local gym so I am going to actually do some exercise this time biggrin I have my first session with a personal trainer tomorrow, and would like to lose at least a stone by November. Diet re-starts tomorrow!

A stone by November is easily achievable, as long as you're committed. I wasn't too overweight before, but have managed to lose well over a stone now in a couple of months of really trying. Good luck!

Cheers.

I reckon I'm a lot fitter than I look/people would think - plus don't look anywhere near as heavy as I am - judged by how I can keep going in the gym. Running wouldn't show this as the weight is an issue there but on any boxing or weights related training I'd outlast most people younger than me unless the were serious trainers. Plus it can only get better after the stupid neglect of the last few years.

Boys are 6 btw - got their 1st proper 'heavy' bag today!

I agree that fitness with strength is best, I soon realised i prefer circuits etc.

I will start posting in the what training thread but lately with working shift and family life, all my training has been at work. Push ups, chins, dips and some objects to press overhead smile

This is my concern with holidays etc. My other half saying 'just relax and eat what you want', but I've known people gain so much weight in just 2 weeks on holiday it's unreal.

I have a holiday coming up but plan to come back at the same weight!

When I was at Le Mans I drank beer like any other year. I was a little more careful than normal with the food. I still managed to lose half a kilo!
There was a lot of walking involved! smile

Your other half is spot on.

If you gain a large amount in a short time, I can guarantee most of it will be water weight and not fat which means it goes as fast as it arrives when you return back to training and/or diet.

I also believe we should make sure we have a good life/exercise balance and my rule is when I'm at home/work I eat well but if I go out or on holiday I eat whatever I like.

Same for me in Berlin recently. I didn't have much beer, but ate huge amounts. I went to the gym every day and we were walking almost continuously, and I came back feeling the same (wasn't weighing myself then).

I know what you're saying OC, but she means beer every night (and lots of it), cakes, burgers, pancakes, etc! (Amsterdam) - No way my stomach would survive that, and I like the way my weight is going!

Nice! Over how long? What have you done to achieve that?

Mine is roughly 85kg down to 75kg now.
