You will always be able to buy them if you really want.

I dont see how they would be any worse than normal fags even if there is a possibilty of any health risk. No tar and none of those 5000 other chemicals.

From the BBC "report"
"But trading standards officers say children could buy them and be exposed to dangerous levels of the drug."

Typical, its not like kids have never been admitted to hospital for eating fags.

I'm sat chuffing away on mine now!

Quick tip for anyone looking at buying one. The Mini isnt that great, the refills dont last that long and the battery life if pretty poor.

The "full size" one is a lot bulkier but works much better, battery lasts for ages, as do the refills. you get a much "healthier" lungfull of "smokey stuff" from it too! smile

After my last post it's not looking good for the e cig, the ecig.co.uk store is selling 0 MG only looks like this is the first nail in the coffin.

I'm going on to Totally Wicked to stock up, apparently the juice can last up to two years.

The site states....

In the interest of public safety we are currently working closely with Trading Standards to ensure our products meet current EC safety regulations.
As a result of this work we have temporarily suspended all nicotine containing products.
During this time, starter packs will be supplied with 0mg cartridges. We are hoping to re-introduce these products within the next few days. Thank you for your patience..

I've just run out. Strangely co-incidental considering the above as it was not because I used it all, but because I threw the last bottle away - it made me feel quite sick every time I puffed on it and gave a burning sensation in the throat...

Ordered 3 months supplies last week as i could see this coming due to the action by the FDA in the US.

This is big pharma getting involved, nothing less.

Two things, firstly, can I use one of these things on a plane? Potentially going to Australia in the summer, and the prospect of a 20+hr flight with no nicotine fills me with dread.

Secondly, I can imagine it is easy to go a bit overboard with puffing away on one, and because there is no smoke or any other nasties I bet its harder to realise when you've had enough. So, what I don't want to do is give up by using one of these, puff on it like mad for a few months, and then realise I've basically doubled the strength of my nicotine addiction. Any thoughts on this?

What I've done is to carry on with the same habits I had when smoking - ie NOT using it loads indoors "because I can" - has worked well thus far (nearly 5 weeks)

Do they come with a fake cigarette box and a fake lighter, because when I gave up, I missed having those objects around. To this day I still ask the barmaid at my local to put an ashtray on the bar.

well theoretically there is no reason at all - legally they can be used anywhere. Doesn't mean an airline is necessarily going to allow you to though! I'd suggest one of two approaches - contact a couple of airlines and see what they say, or just pop into the loo whenever you feel the need and use it in there, no smoke, the vapour dissipates so quickly no-one would be able to tell.

Ollie, this

might help you.

Thank god e.cigs are going to be back up and running, although I think it's only a matter of time before Big Tobacco or the like get involved as these increase in popularity.

Quoting my self, pretty sad, but if you look at the bottom of the page one guy says.....

Have ''smoked' by eCig on many planes - including a long flight to South Africa. On that occasion I spoke to the stewardesses as soon as I got on and gave them a demo. They were happy for me to smoke in peace. Got off the plane feeling quite contented having puffed away on and off for a few hours.

In fact that was the only time I've asked for permission. Mostly, I just get on and puff away. You get some funny looks but only one person (in about 30 flights) has come up and asked me what I had - that was more out of curiosity than anything else. Basically, as long as people can't smell it they're reasonably happy. When I first started I felt fairly furtive about it so I smoked it in the loo. For those who feel bad about their habit you'll be pleased to know that it doesn't set the smoke alarm off

BTW - never had a problem with it in security; just got asked about it the once (I was smoking it going through security) and the staff were just fascinated.

Hope my experience gives you some confidence about it.

I think if I were buying another, I'd get a black one with a green LED, make it more obvious that it's not a cigarette. My "normal" looking one does still occasionally get mistaken for one in pubs.

Just do what I did and buy a black battery and a black atonimiser, costs aprox 15 quid, you've already got all the rest of the kit, I keep my black one for the pub and other public places and use the "real" one for during the day when it doesn't matter as much.

I did think that, but then I thought it would be handy to have a second charger at the office.
