Bit the bullet this morning as now 8 days late andf took a test.

Negative again.

Toughest month yet, all the signs pointed to a positive result.

So where the hell is her flaming period?

Tears this morning, but we just have jump back on the wagon.
Some of the tests aren't always that acurate in early stages of pregnancy. Maybe test again in a week if her period still hasn't come.

Try not to stress too much, it can delay periods.

Finger crossed...

If you are not using the digital ovulation test, then get some, again, something we used as well, very accurate and will help map out her cycles.

Best of luck

Ok, thats crap, really awful. I am sorry.

Several things could be happening here. The test may not be sensitive enough at this stage of pregnancy - the ones I find best for early on would be the clear blue digital one and the first response ones. Alternatively your wife could be like a friend of mine who never gets a postive test unitl she is past 6 weeks - why I don't know.
Then there is the issue of if she has irregular cycles - how did you know when the period was due? I had real trouble with this having pcos, you can get 28 days, 25, 35, 22 etc and so on - though mine tend to be over 5 weeks. If you have used ovulation tests they are not always accurate or it is known that your body can gear up to ovulate and you havea surge of the hormone that is produced pre0ovulation but then you don't go onto to ovulate at that point, you may then have a second surge and ovulate a few days later.
I went through two years of not knowing what was going on before it was sorted out. My GP would have made me wait longer so I privately paid to see a consultant. Money well spent i my case.

Coco - we used a boggo Sainsburys test. Her cycles have been slightly irregular since coming off the pill but usually around the 30 day mark.

Last month her period started on 17th July so if you take 28 days from the 17th we calculated she was, on a 'normal' cycle, due on the 14th August - it is now the 22nd!

BUT, July period took 33 days so you could therefore argue she is only 3 days late of her maximum length period to date...

...so many variable, so much frustration.

Doctors tomorrow to ask for some tests, if not we may go private. As Tonker said earlier in the thread, better to get assurance on the mechanical bits, then we can worry about the stress / ovulation / timing etc.

I think seeing the doctor is a fantastic plan. I hope you get some answers. I was told due to endometrisois and pcos I would be highly unlikley to conceive easily and granted the first was a time coming, the next two were pretty easy.

Just to say it again, we tried for 9 months but in reality there was only a couple of months where we even had a possibility of it happening because our timing was off. The ovulation tests don't tell you she is ovulating right now. They tell you that it may be now or in the next 24 hours. Normally you are told to "do it" once every two days to ensure the ammo is sufficient. When we got the positive it was the first time that we had sex on the day of ovulation and the day after twice.

Each month we got a negative we tried to improve the technique. It definitely makes a difference. Also, not sure if you drink or smoke but the time we had a positive was the first month I hadn't smoked and i had stopped drinking for the week before O-Day. I do think the drinking makes a difference especially if you enjoy it too much.

Not forgetting my earlier commenst on the thread about having been in a similar situation and continuing to send my best wished to OP and all who are in this process.

But I sincerely hope that the OP et al have the success they wish and opportunity to remember this thread when starting their post on a thread titled "Flaming bolshie teenage kids aaarrrggghhhh!!!" in fifteen or so years time, or even less.

hehe

So it finally reared it's ugly head today, 7 days late.

Good news is the doc is willing to get us both checked out - feels like we are taking a step forward rather than treading water.

Much for positive for us both today, bring on the next battle, so to speak...

Night all and thanks for all your kindness again.

Have to feel for the OP, been through a similar sort of hell..

I have a little boy of 5, when he was conceived we weren't trying for a baby but also we weren't trying not to have a baby so, after a year or so we thought nows the time for number two so we kept going as we were.

3 years in and no sign of anything, then we had a positive test, but things weren't right from the off, my wife was ill, tired all the time, things just didn't add up..we had to visit the emergancy maternity section 3 saturdays on the trot and the kept saying she's not 12 weeks she's nine weeks and as they kept knocking the weeks off we knew something was wrong.

I had the call i had been dreading from my wife in work, looking back on it, it was more like a sitcom. It was the one day that my car was in for a service and i was due to pick it up after work, so i couldn't jump in the car, my boss only had his motorbike with him and no spare helmet...eventually i jumped in a cab to get to the garage to get to the house. I pretty much cried all the way in the taxi..(and he had a good tip to as i just threw a load of money at him and ran to my car). The worst part of the miscarriage was having if confirmed in the hospital with a baby monitor showing a blank empty space where last week our baby was...

Then last year we had a concentrated effort, i knew more about my wifes cycles than i did about the ones in my garage gathering dust..but still no joy.

Then we went to the London Womens Clinic and started their programme which led us to IUI (cheaper, just, than IVF) this was one of the worst parts of any of the treatments. Watching my wife inject herself in the stomach twice times a day everyday for a month...

Once that course of treatment finished it was a case of injecting my chaps direct into her ladies..

We then had to wait to see if this was succesful.

It wasn't and it was bloody difficult to deal with at the time, so we sat down, said we were bloody lucky to have one and as so much of out time, emotion, money and effort and been put towards number two that we should give up and concentrate on him. so thats what we did. We stopped everything and just got back to having fun and not worrying about it.

And now i'm typing this with baby Matilda whos 5 weeks old fast asleep next to me. Amazing.
the only advice i could give the OP is to stop. take some time out, go back to the basics and try to relax...

Best of luck to you both.

At last the ovulation test has picked up a signal which gives us a some relief in that hopefully the missus is producing eggs ok. Just getting a positive anything gives me a warm feeling inside.

This will be the first month we have "properly" used ovulation tests and I am going to use Hobo's tactic.....

....so you may not hear from me until Sunday as I plan to be a busy boy....

good luck with it all.

(osrry to bring this up but does anyone know how long it takes you to feel normal after loosing a pregnancy. I am 6 weeks on and I still physically and mentally poo (for want of a better term). It's definately lost. But no more chances of having another baby for me which is why I probably feel so darn pathetic)

5 weeks after the d and c and my wife is still registering as pregnant. She we to the docs and had a blood test which showed her hcg levels to be down from 100000 to 150. We are hoping this means she will resume her normal cycle soon. One of her friends miscarried naturally and was quicker.
