Last night

4x6reps 110kg flat bench
1x4 reps 130kg flat bench

3x6 reps 75kg military press

5x15 reps dips

Today

5x6 reps 112kg dead lift
5x6 reps 100kg seated row
3x failure pull ups (around 15-20reps)
4sets of bar bell curls with the last 2 as super sets with hammers.

Then 60min Hot Yoga class afterwards. Excellent class if people havent tried it.

Seeing some good gains on my bench press using a sort of 5x5 method

Still really low deadlift compared to my other muscles. I have a bit of a dodgy lower back which swells when I run and stuff so I avoid big weights on it.

Lots of biking this week, my Strava count is mounting up nicely. Gym this afternoon, started off with 2 x 3 minute pull up efforts - 45 reps and 38 reps respectively. Moved on to a few sets of flat bench dumbell presses, 5 sets of dips and 5 sets of standing military press. Finished off with some ab work and grip work.

Jeez you've been through the wars, been to check its been sorted now?

Week of training as normal this morning 1 mile open water swim in Milton Keynes, I completed it in 26 minutes winning time was a 15 year old in 15 minutes, think I'll train for the next one as sure I've got more in me.
... it gets worse!

Shoulder really sore and bothering me today (not sure why) and on checking the capsule seems to have gone again and there is now the big, sore protusion towards the top that signalled the shoulder separation when it first went in c. 2007. Never has been really 'right' since.

I did wonder what it would be next if things do 'come in threes". biggrin

Bloody hell what a nightmare - So do you know exactly what that is? Injuries are a nightmare but shoulders and back mess your training up big time.

My next fitness fad has had me enter this: http://swimseries.humanrace.co.uk/events/hampton-c...

Next mountain bike event is Straphpuffer in January so I'm going to crack the whip for that late October.

I done 2 laps of Cannock last Monday but everything has been weights, swimming and X-Fit last 4 or 5 weeks.

Thanks for asking Ben.

And yep wet suit all the way, I had a look at Channel Swims last night, official records are only taken without a wetsuit!

Good stuff mate, I am going to add some more cardio to my training and am going for a 2mile run today to see how my ankle holds up.

The Channel Swim would be a big one mate, definitely a summer job though smile

When it 'went' - doing dumbbell curls after years of not doing direct bicep work, of all things - it was diagnosed by the docs as a 'Class 2 shoulder separation so borderline between surgery and doing naff all for a long time.

Avoided the op so far but don't get long training wise before it flares up, esp. weights.

That's your only hope or you end up with it for ages.

I had a habit of popping things when climbing more frequently. Because I'm not climbing so much these days, everything that was "long term" has finally healed eg a fked finger early last year that I couldn't close (was hanging off the edge of a hold the size of a 50p piece glued to a wall when something went pop), making my fist look decrepit, sorted itself out so I can grip a fist properly (my friend who continues to climb at a similar intensity and also damaged her finger still suffers from it 4 years later and has "resigned" to having an injury for life and getting round the problem).

I read somewhere that most ligament and tendon injuries can take up to 900 days to heal (and those that can't heal require surgery).

Trouble is I have so many long term nagging or worse injuries that stopping for any particular one to sort out would mean years off so I tend to try to work round it.

I'm doing nothing today and tomorrow will see if some light boxing and leg/trunk work is on...

Even if I can't do weights etc. for a while I'll make sure I do something as keeping the weight loss going is now such a slow business I doubt I could do it with diet alone without starving every muscle cell off in the process. I don't even eat ryvitas now except as a treat (last 3 weeks ago)!
