Just train in your trousers. I don't wear shorts. I figure that if I can climb in combats often scaring myself whilst hanging in an odd-shaped pull up position, I can do any other sport in them.
I split most garments that go below the knee...unless they're made of Lycra. Curse of the mobile.
Yeah I'd spilt joggers in one set of squats. I splilt five pairs of shorts this year so had to change the style I wore.

I've never split shorts or joggers doing squats, used to tear underwear completely in two on a good few occasions though. It was the noise that was most off putting.

Firstly, whether or not you scare yourself is utterly irrelevant to what clothing someone else should wear!

Secondly, you climb indoors right? Presumably top rope or sport-lead stuff? Ergo, nowt to be afraid of. Now, if you were soloing or doing hard trad, then you'd have earned the tight to be scared biggrin
I'm scared of heights. Standing on a table makes me nervous.

My point is that if combats can be worn climbing, I can wear them for lifting. Or playing tennis. Or any other sport.

I've never split clothes from lifting. Everything I wear is loose-fit.

Squats 3 x 3 - 67.5kg, 75kg, 85kg
Dead lifts 5 x 10, 10, 10, 7, 6 - 150kg
Crunches 5 x 20

Word of advice to everyone, wear clothes that fit a the gym, especially shorts when you're squatting and dead lifting. I have a pair of heavy shorts that kept falling down and getting in the way of every bloody rep on dead lifts, the inside of my elbow was also rubbing against the shorts at the bottom of every rep and has rubbed the skin off a bit.

Shorts are going to a charity shop, you can fit 2 of me in these shorts. I've also realised that a weight belt isn't the best way to try to keep up a pair of shorts.

Combat trousers have loops for a belt.

Stupid question, perhaps, but why not hold the bar so that your arms are angled outwards a little and don't rub? Also, would you not end up rubbing your arms against your legs anyway?

My best trouser splitting incident was at work, had to bend down to pick something up, so I squatted down, trousers split from front to back. Proceeded to do a 'haters gonna hate' stroll to my car where I drove home to get changed..

Split 2 pairs of jogging bottoms and 3 sets of boxers squatting. I also tear shirts (4 now) at the seam under the arm pit. I'd like to think its my lats doing it, but I doubt it frown

No worries. It's funny really. Even indoors I've been known to mutter to myself "I am safe! I am safe!" on overhangs as I climb past a quickdraw, hands starting to sweat and make the hold slippery. And I also have made my climbing partner roll her eyes when I say, "This is a bit exposed!" if I'm doing an arête (she's a trad climber and mountaineer).</big sissy>

Never had a problem with my arms rubbing on my legs or jogging bottoms, if they do rub then I've never noticed. Never worn those shorts for leg day before but off to the charity shop they go.

Strange. Might just be the design of those particular shorts.

On a thread note rather than actually what the thread is about, it's only 80 posts away from 10,000 which will officially take it Vol 2, according to the mods I've spoken to in the past. If and when this happensm I'd really like to be the OP of Vol.2, because I'm a bit of a geek and I'm proud of my thread? Is there anyway to make that happen if/when a mod closes this thread?

250 Push Ups

4 miles cycling in 12.01, av. 20.1mph... Knocked 57 secs off my best time...

Not sure if its the new wheels, or me pushing harder in order to justify the outlay hehe

Probably a bit of both I'd imagine.
