Yeah I'm trying.

To be honest 40kg is probably a little too heavy really but I got stuck on 35kg so I decided to go heavier for less sets to try and push through it.

I care less about my biceps than anything else really, my arms have grown to a decent size recently although like everyone who does this, it's never enough and sometimes I still feel quite puny even though I'm not.

I will probably go a bit lower in weight for more reps soon and see if it's made any difference!

Legs tonight! My apprentice had a appointment and I was late so it was a quick session with a focus on intensity and very short breaks inbetween sets!

Leg extensions 3 x 8 @ 80kg
Squat 1 x 10 @ 80kg, 3 x 8 @ 120kg
Leg Press 3 x 10 @ 220kg
Reverse leg curl 3 X 8 @ 70kg

It wasn't a bad workout but not one of my better ones either.

So anyway tonight was Chest/Triceps, I took my student along again so it made my workout far easier than usual with the enforced breaks whilst he was working in. It was interesting watching him tonight as his arms clearly hadn't recovered from the previous week and he struggled valiantly along whilst I shouted at him to not give up and try harder!

Bench Press 1 x 10 @ 40kg then, 3 x 8 @ 95kg and then 1 x 6 at the same weight
Incline flys 3 x 8 @ 22.5kg (dumbbells)
Incline dumbbell press 3 x 17.5kg
Tricep push down 3 x 8 @ 70kg
Dips - 3 x 12

The good news was I did more weight easily tonight, it goes to show I guess, training like I normally do with no real breaks makes the exercise massively harder than taking a minute between reps.

Oh and other good news is I'm seeing muscles and definition I've not seen in my stomach for more than a year!

Ive lost half a stone! Couldn't believe it when I weighed myself tonight.

Question Lee, how come I'm eating hardly any carbs and don't feel lethargic at all? Is my energy coming from the fats and oils I am consuming?

Well done man!

Yes your body will convert over to using fats in place of carbs which is arguably the bodies most efficient mode!

I actually feel lighter, have more energy and generally feel much more alive on low carbs.

If I eat a lot of carbs I generally just feel either on top of the world or knackered.

So tonight was back/biceps

Lat pull down (close grip) 3 x 8 @ 80kg
Seated pulls (close grip) 3 x 8 @ 100kg
Shrugs 3 x 8 @ 40kg
Bicep curls 3 x 10 @ 40kg
Hammer curls 3 x 6 @ 22.5kg - Final set was a struggle with the worst form known to man but damn are my biceps tight now!

I was training new guy again tonight and he's doing ok, I'm making him focus on super strict form, less weight and teaching him to leave his ego at home. He's generally doing very well!

I've also come to realise I'm a typical bodybuilding poser, I'm secretly terrified about losing size on my diet so I'm sabotaging my progress by eating more than I need to because I don't want to lose size although this is obviously at the detriment of my diet so whilst the weight is coming off, it would be coming off far faster if I stopped being so worried about losing size.

I've got to say when I'm wearing a t-shirt I'm looking pretty buff and my ego is getting big from all of the unsolicited comments from girls I do and don't know and guys at work who are either impressed or jealous. I was shopping today when a pretty young girl said she wished her gym had good looking guys in great shape like me in it, she'd go more often, sheesh I could barely get my ego out through the door.

I then realised I'd never get to my goal of being a reasonable size and ripped whilst I keep acting like such a poser.

DownUnder.

I think 911motorsports hacked his account...laugh

Glad you realised the error of your ways, I was like that a few months ago, people saying how much bigger i was than when they'd last saw me. Then consciously realised it wasn't just my muscles growing, belly and all!

Im in a difficult position at the moment whereby I am not as lean as I used to be. When I started posting on BB.com I was quite shredded - that has long since gone and I have gained a lot of mid-rift weight, coupled with Pectus Excavatum, I am pretty annoyed.

Few questions from me:

1) Are you using any fat burners at all?
2) How did you feel during bulk stage, how long did it take and how did you react to friends/family when they saw you?
3) What keeps you motivated?
4) I am going through a funny spell of recent, I have no motivation to go to the gym whatsoever - What keeps you motivated?

If you are on BB.com feel free to add me and follow my nickname - B4ll3r4lyf3 is my profile (excuse the name, youthful basketball days)

1. I'm using a fat burner although only over the past week I've been using it and I've been dieting for the past 2 1/2 months
2. I felt strong but fat bulking and it got quite uncomfortable for me putting podge back on. It didn't take long for them to start seeing my size increase. Lots of food, heavy lifting as much as I could manage and no cardio. Probably 1-2 months and people started commenting on my growth. I would do it again given the end result.
3. I find motivation easy. I sit behind a desk all day and consider myself quite a physical man, I have a lot of intensity and aggression in me, always been the same so it's great mentally for me as well as for my body to go take it out on the bar.
4. Same as above.

I personally don't feel good not training, I've always been the same. I do it more for the challenge than health benefits or looks although as I said before the looks aspect has been good lately.

I don't go on bb.com I'm afraid, too many space cadets on there for me. I tend to use one site these days;
www.testosteronemuscle.co.uk

It's full of like minded folk who are also very knowledgeable and interesting to interface with. There are plenty of pro's and good amateurs on there.

Thanks! It's coming but slowly!

I do like the fact this is a long term thing and there are no real shortcuts for a natural.

Buzzing Lee, just weighed myself at the gym after a 1.5 hour fasted cardio session, lost just under 9lbs now, but I'll call it 8!

Either way it's really coming off now and I feel so much better for it already. I'm aiming to drop 3 stone then do a massive bulk (3500 cals per day) and hopefully put 1-1.5 stone back on.

Good man! I love success stories.

So what has made the difference? Was it training, diet or both?

All the best,
Lee

Both mate. I've changed jobs so I don't do shifts anymore.
I'm ashamed to admit that some weeks I was having takeaways 5 nights in a row, purely because I was tired and couldn't be arsed to cook properly. In the day I was eating crisps, chocolate sausage rolls etc, everything you shouldn't really!

Im keeping myself sain by allowing myself 1 cheat meal a week, last night I had a Chinese.

So legs tonight! My apprentice didn't come tonight as he said he body hurt too much from last week, lightweight!

Leg extensions 3 x 8 @ 80kg
Squat 1 x 10 @ 80kg, 3 x 8 @ 120kg, 2 x 6 @ 140kg
Leg press 3 x 12 @ 180kg
Reverse leg curl 3 X 8 @ 70kg

And a progress pic, although I look very puffy after a booze fueled and carb filled alcohol weekend! It was a planned event I'd been signed up to for a while so I'd planned to drink and eat badly! It was a good time! Although it's becoming more and more apparent how much my body can change when I do stuff like that. I'm actually 10lbs heavier on the scales since Friday evening! Maybe I will take a picture to show everyone in a few days once I've gone much lighter again.
