Vipassana meditation
Discussion
In a few hours I leave to start a Vipassana meditation course.
As of 6pm, I wont utter a word to, have any eye contact with or gesture to anyone for ten days - except to my teacher should the need arise.
I'm excited and scared in equal measure but it can't be denied that if I can improve my mental wellbeing, I will be a much calmer and a more useful person to all.
Another journey begins.

Many thanks.
Certainly going to be an experience either way. I'm not concerned about any cultlike element. Nothing I've read, and the first person accounts I've heard, really points that way. It's not religious - if it was, I wouldn't be doing it.
I'd be very happy to discuss it afterwards.

My mother used to do these both in England and America (may have been a different organization there). She was already into meditation before she went on her first visit and said it really helped her "reset" her mind.
I being a supportive 16 year old just referred to it as a freak farm and never mentioned it to my friends.
