Anyone had any experience of accupuncture?

NHS website indicates that there may be some sucess with certain conditions but it probably doesn't help for most of the things it is sold for helpign with.

Plenty of people out there willing to endorse it though - placedo effect or do people just react differently?

I had a few sessions when suffering from sciatic pain. I was sceptical, but since this was a respected physio (worked with the olympic team etc.) I figured why not give it a try. I feel that it helped to relieve some of the pain symptoms, so in that respect it was worth doing. Plus junior had a good laugh as he watched me lying face down with needles protruding from my ass.

But I guess as with most things there are good and bad practitioners. Maybe I was lucky.

I've had acupuncture from a number of different physiotherapists and osteopaths who I've seen about my chronic back problems, and also sciatica that I've been having since helping someone who'd fallen over last year. Acupuncture has never helped; in fact I've never felt the slightest bit of difference after having it.

There was another thread on this a couple of weeks ago IIRC. More comments on that.

I had it to treat trigger spots in my back after a car crash...found it to be very effective...if a little weird.
