I'm currently running my man maths on the Evora and wondering what people think they are and will continue to depreciate at.....I'm presuming that the launch edition vehicles will probably have slowed down a lot while the new ones are in for a good thumping.

Thoughts?

Sorry to be blunt, yep, as with any car.

Longer term the rarity ought to work in the cars favour though, and the newer cars are definately better, which in the long term would make them the more desireable cars.

Whilst the newer cars do have different trim even the older NA cars are quite desirable whatever the spec I suggest as long as they have been regularly serviced and treated well

Its only recently Ive seen a few drop below 30k for low mileage ones (sub 30,000) although they were marine blue so not the most popular colour (IMO!!).

Very few for sale private, nearly all through lotus dealers which should help keep the price from dropping loads - they seem happy to sit on them at 31-33k ish for LE models and hardly ever drop the price.

I have been looking for a few months now (for a white one smile ) only a handful get added to the PH listings a month, most are just re-added

They seem to have bottomed out this year at around £30,000 which seems to have been a lot of people's target price. I've also seen a lot more interest in them from people's posts on car forums this year.

Some of the later ones are holding their values exctremely well as, post Danny Bahar, there was a cut in the number of management cars and so there are far fewer of them around. I can see them continuing with a low level of depreciation tbh which is, of course, good news for the current owners like me smile

A lot of people on day one said they'd wait 'till they hit 30K and then buy one.

It seems that the relative scarcity combined with the fact that there's always someone willing to pay a little bit more has kept the prices fairly steady just above that mark. I get the impression it helps that Lotus have been fairly pro-active about sorting out any issues with the early models.

So far so good.

My bet is that in first years they will depreciate heavily from list as a bit over priced but once they get to a price where more enthusiasts can afford, even as second cars, then they will stabilise and command strong values due to rarity and the way they drive.

They will be a great value ownership proposition over 5 - 10 years compared to most of the peer group that will continue to depreciate.

Similar happened to GTR, GT3 etc

there are no more managers cars being released from Lotus as far as I can tell which is making a massive difference to numbers on the market and hence residuals. That and the people who own one love the car and arnt in a rush to sell, at least I'm not.

I can see the first movement on cars happening when Lotus release something which makes it worth current owners changing. If you own an early Evora there really isn't enough of a difference between that and a new car to justify the considerable expenditure to buy. Lotus look to be working on some improvements (more power) but I can't see the car changing much for a good while yet. Really, for me, it'd have to be a new model to make it worthwhile.

When I started watching prices of these cars approx 2 years ago the NA launch model cars were circa £30 to £35k and the sc were roughly 10k more. In the mid £40s

Look now 2 years later and not an awful lots changed.

I sold a lazer blue 2006 exige s in 2009 for circa £21k. The same car would now cost me aboutthe same price possibly more to buy back more than 4 years later!

The lotus used car market will always be relatively strong because of the enthusiasts out there. If you then add in the rareness of the evora then that is going to be a very big marker when it comes to depreciation. Supply and demand and all that.

Having said all that if you are Prepared to compromise there are some great deals to be had. There was a blue 2+0 on the market relatively recently with high mileage (65000 iirc) that was available in the mid £20s.

If you can live without all the packs and don't want a particular colour then you could pick up a bargain!

On the other hand if you want a particular colour with all the packs, +2, 2012 model, rev camera, 19/20" wheels, etc then you better get in the queue because I'm certain there will be others looking for exactly the same and are prepared to write a cheque £45k plus.

Edit: forgot to actually answer your question.

I think the earlier NA cars will be mid £20s to £30k in the next two years with the supercharged being approx £5 to £7k more. 2012 MY supercharged will be £35 to £45k depending on colour. A good colour compared to a bad colour can add £3k plus.

I agree in part, but even if you dont have all the packs why would they be a 'Bargin' a 2+0 with sport pack and CR box would still be one heck of a machine clearly packs would make more of a premium but seriously do not 'add' huge value on 2nd hand cars

Mid 20's - 30's in two years may be reasonable as these are one heck of a performance car, MY 12 may be a bit more as there are less of them

OK call me weird I dont mind, and agree with the metalics I saw a white one in Guildford couple of weeks back and did not seem to have the same 'presence' as the metallic colours

Mines white and I like it, although it has got some black bits to set it off....and without which I agree they do not have the presence.
