How long till the £20k Evora?
Discussion
Just to note, the £19995 car hs disappeared from PH but is still up on FB.
Bit of a low-water mark here as we go into second lockdown: I'm tracking only 9 NA manual Evoras currently for sale across all the platforms. The last new car to come on sale was almost a month ago. Indeed, all but two of the cars currently on sale have been around for over two months, two of those have been on sale for over four months. Definite market slowdown.

Nowt to do with the 20k end, but noticed on AT today an excruciatingly expensive Red 410, being the 100,000th Lotus ever built and somehow commemorating Jim Clark. 2018 model, done 820 miles, £99,950 eeek, really?
That car was raffled for charity - I failed to win it Its a one off I believe, but tartan interior and wooded gear knob is a bit of an acquired taste
Just to update on my market watch - No movement at all, market has ground to a complete stop it seems. There are very few cars on sale and nothing is selling (remembering that I am only watching manual NA cars).
The latest new advert is the blue £25,990 with ivory leather at Derby Trade Cars which went up early November (finally got pictures this weekend, looking nice).
The longest standing advert is the liquid blue metallic £33,000 with black leather at Central Lotus which has been on sale since the start of July.
The £19,999 carbon grey car much discussed on here disappeared from PH but is still shown on Facebook ads.

I wouldn't say that there's been no movement.
A while ago new unregistered cars were £105000. There's now one advertised at just £75000 at main dealer.
Now that's what I call movement !!
At the bottom end of the price range, I don't think price is the overriding factor in making a sale. At the moment, the market is frozen.
This is due to covid, future money worries and winter. If there is a buyer out there, I think they are more focused on getting the right car, rather than a cheap car. If you under price your car, your more likely to put someone off IMO.

After a year of searching for an Exige and failing to find one I had a browse of the Evora market again this morning.
Doesn't seem to be too much listed at the bottom of the 400 range. Some in there at high 40s but too much I think for a second choice.
Would need to get some proper time to look around one and see if it was as good for me as the Exige. That's often the problem. Simply unable to find a car to sit in let alone drive.

I posted a 'wanted' ad on 'The Lotus Forum' and this one was offered to me at £25k - I didn't go for it as I want yellow, red or white. Buy private.

Interesting info. Given it's now being sold by Lotus Silverstone (possible on sale or return I guess) I would presume it's going with a 12 month warranty which will be at least a couple of thousand of that difference. The rest will be their dealership mark up I guess.Ryvita said:

That car came up in another thread, i looked at the details. It appears to have some possible issues - eg side light leds failed, airbag cover warped, key missing (dealer has tried to hide that) etc
Hmm. I'm surprised that a Lotus dealer of their repute would get involved in a sale in that state. Maybe they've resolved or are resolving the issues as part of the cost? Could explain why no pictures yet if it's being gussied up.Ryvita said:

Sidelights are just bulbs one would presume.
Airbag cover on passenger side is a perennial issue most early cars have to some degree or other. The plastic warps slightly in high temperatures (summer sun when parked outside) and pops the catches, resulting in a corner or multiple corners of the airbag panel standing proud of the rest of the dash. It's common. Fixing is painful, involving dash disassembly I believe, and there's no way to my knowledge of stopping it happening again the next hot summer day...
Taken together, doesn't paint the best picture of an attentive previous owner maybe.

All common issues and imo not necessarily indicative of an unloved car if the rest of the history checks out.
My airbag cover had lifted maybe 3mm on one corner and it never bothered me. Failed LEDs used to require a brand new headlight (four figures from Lotus) but I believe Silverstone can now provide a cheaper fix by repairing the board.
Sounds like good business for Silverstone to make a nice margin by sorting a few small things that are easy and cheap for them to do.

Didn't know that, will file that bit of info away, thanks.Just done a quick sweep and there is another newly advertised car now on sale today. AU59DZE, Black with red leather Launch Edition 2+2, 59k miles, £23,495.
Also the red car mentioned earlier (AU10BHN) has had a price drop from £24,500 to £24,000. This car was up as a private sale back in February at £21K, and sold very quickly, then went back on sale initally priced at £26,492 and with slowly dropping price ever since.

How do we think the 4xx wil do in the next few years. What makes these desirable to a buyer? Looks like they are firm at £47500 being the cheapest one.
Hofmanns let their low miles 400 go for less than that at an online auction. I was surprised to see the guide was only £34 to 38k, although it went for more than upper estimate.Gassing Station | Evora | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
