How long till the £20k Evora?
Discussion
PH get upset at for sales going into normal posts and not in an ad in the classifieds. I got my knuckles rapped for mentioning the car I had for sale on CC and then again for engaging in the debate referring to it in the Porsche bit! Fair enough it's their place.

James, sorry to hear that you had to sell it, am I right in thinking you've had an Evora before? I’m sure I saw something on your FB about a previous one.
Either way, it’s not nice to have to sell and lose a big chunk of money in a short period of time. I guess there’s a lesson here (that everyone can learn from) - do your research really thoroughly before buying and test everything, especially when buying privately, as some things are costly to fix, or the parts may not be available. Also, an unscrupulous trader may tell you everything is fine but it may not be. There are checklists and buying guides on the various forums for these cars. That said, it sounds like you checked a fair few things (I remember reading when you were buying it) and have been a bit unlucky.
Personally I wouldn’t buy this blue one from the trader that is selling it now, as he doesn’t seem to know anything about them. Doesn’t bode well and I suspect none of the issues that have arisen have been addressed properly.
Was rather a shame! Great car to drive, it was just this one wasn't one of my finest purchases.. Another problem was the garage I purchased the car from didn't really know much about it either. I did indeed, a Red Evora S, purchased from Bell and Colvil. Immaculate car! I only sold that as I went to an Exige roadster.
The check list on here was very helpful indeed.
I think I got carried away on the day, and rushed into it, sadly I think it bit me back! I didn't think one of the faults would happen instantly..
Sadly I would have to agree there, price seems high for what needs doing. Most of what's written in the advert was exactly what I told him. Chap even said he had never sold one before. I just didn't expect it to be up for sale so soon.

Not surprised - there isnt much else at that price point and it's a good colour
If that one's gone, and the black private sale in Southampton as well (It's gone from gumtree and ebay, only up still on facebook which I guess might be an oversight) then the cheapest Evora currently on sale is the £30K one at Lotus Silverstone! So forget "How long till the £20K Evora?" we can now retitle this thread "How long till the Sub-£30K Evora?" /
so crystal balls out everyone...
What do we think the recent news that Evora production stops this year means for residuals? Accelerated drop to our thread's 20k target level (because the new car will render the Evora obsolete), or firming up of values making 30k the new 20k (as the new car won't be as "pure" as the current ones)......

The market is in a strange place at the moment with very low supply of the naturally aspirated cars. The only ones currently for sale are up above 30K. I have a feeling that private owners are choosing to sit on their cars while lockdown is going on, because of the difficulty and risks of selling, and this has artificially starved the market into a higher position where only the very expensive ones remain on sale. Go back a couple of months and there were multiple 23-27K cars available.
My suspicion is that if things go back towards normal as we get into summer some of these private sellers will look at the market, and take the opportunity to sell at higher prices. I could see a one-time adjustment with prices bumping up by say 2-3K overall.
What the prices do from there is anyone's guess and will likely be governed by the perception of the new 131 cars. If they look good, they will negatively effect the 2016 and later Evoras that are in a similar price point, and this will likely ripple down to lower prices further down the foodchain. If they look bad (impure, overly heavy, bad reviews - I can't see it happenig personally) then maybe the Evoras could spike up in price further with people seeking out good keeper cars from the last of the old stock.

I don't think the new car will have any real negative effect at the older end of the Evora market. Agree maybe at the top end. But the new car is going to be a pricey beast I reckon.
Bert
The new car will be directly competing at similar price points with the remaining and nearly new 410GTs and the like though, so if the new car is a compelling choice against those (and that's supposition - we don't know if it will have 2 or 4 seats, 4 or 6 cylinders etc.), then the 410GT Evoras would HAVE to come down in price to sell.Bert
That then compresses the value of all of the other evoras down the chain from there. The effect will weaken as it goes down the chain, but if a 410GT loses say 15k to limbo under the price point of the new car, 400s might have to lose 10k, Supercharged and Sport Racers might lose 5k, and the bottom rung naturally aspirated cars might lose 1-2k.
All supposition though.

They are all being bought now there won't be many more new ones. They'll become rare, collectable and never again appear at this price point!
Well, maybe!!
Or, people might want to upgrade and trade in their 400/410s etc so there will be a glut on the 2nd hand market so the prices will drop and this in turn will drop the price of the series 1s. Time will tellWell, maybe!!
Got the new issue of Absolute Lotus mag today. It has a feature on a Launch Edition car which is apparently now for sale, I believe it's this one: https://www.pjslotus.co.uk/lotus-evora. Strange that it isn't on Autotrader et al. Not a fan of black generally but still looks a decent value at £26k.

Very good value if they’re not passing it off as a private sale. Overall D said:

It has been for sale for over 6 months actually, on the PJS website, and also advertised in the back of every issue of Absolute Lotus during that time. It’s also now on eBay. It’s sale or return but with no dealer warranty, so effective the same as a private sale in that regard. Paul at PJS knows the car well though as they have looked after it for a few years.I’ve seen and driven the car, it isn’t in stunning condition but it’s a good example and drives well. It does need the big service at £1020 though, and new rear tyres.
