People have been hoping for that elusive 'correction' for years.

i can see prices firming, as with the Elise. awareness and appreciation grows but supply is lean from low sales over last decade. supply is nearly always the key factor in later years of a cars existence. with cars that were great, but also popular sellers initially such as Mini, Porsche, MX5 are all reasonably priced later in life despite their continued status as desirable. Clio Trophies (obviously limited supply) and vanilla 172s went up after a few years as they became more appreciated. That's before we stretch out to Ford Capris and Mexicos laugh

This isn't just specific to Evoras though, the entire market is inflated.

Go to the 981 Cayman forum and they will all tell you that their prices are also going up because of how good the car is. Not realising that they've all gnoe up.

Have 981s held their prices for the last 5 years?

As I said upthread, it's not been possible for people to sell cars in the 'normal' way for the last couple of months. I've been looking at Evoras on and off for five years - there have typically been around 50 on autotrader through that period. It's 30 at present. Combine that with money saved on holidays and general merriment and it seems pretty obvious that there will be inflation in the second hand car market. Having said all that, and even when things settle a little, I do expect to have to spend a couple of grand more for an Evora than would have been the case 18 months ago. That's 5-10%. The market is probably small enough that it can be controlled by sellers with only 1-2 early NAs on at any time.

I'd say they've held their prices well and slightly outperformed the rest of the market, but they haven't been immune to depreciation.

I’d say that an evora 400 that was 55k 5 years ago is still 55k today. Likewise a 30k S1.

Speaking as someone who was selling a 400 (now sold) the normal Spring rush to buy a car is stronger than ever. Manual 400s are fetching £50k plus without too much hassle so anyone expecting to get one for less is being a tad optimistic. May be things will change but I don’t suspect it will happen this calendar year given the additional savings that many have accumulated and lack of supply.

Will Blackham looks to have sold the expensive red low miles NA, and replaced it with a far cheaper, earlier white car...

Dibs! I saw it first...

EDIT: Speaking to Will, I absolutely did not see it first... Don't think it will hang around long. smile

Blimey. I sold my white LE what must have been 4 - 5 years ago now for £28k (gross) via Jon Seal and that hung around for a good few months before getting a buyer. Also with Kenwood upgraded stereo, sports exhaust 2+2 etc. Similar miles and with a new clutch.

Saying that, market for almost everything appears to have steadily appreciated. Nuts really.

With dealers re-opening I'm hoping we're going to see more trade-ins and therefore more hitting the market.

Interesting times! I paid less than that for my 2013 Sports Racer back in 2018. Admittedly it had a few more miles at 46k.

Yeah, that one looks a little optimistic for a private sale.

This on the other hand, looks positively insane. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202104131... I guess it's super low mileage and they're going for the collector, but seriously. It's missing premium pack too.

I saw this too. Horrendous spec.

Just curious about what about the spec is so bad (not being all that up on the spec)?

We're clearly all for the Evora on this thread but at what point to people start looking at 997s, M2 comps and even the R8 V8s? Surely all of those cars are going to hold more appeal for the vast majority.
