I currently have a Mustang GT which I have had for a year. I really fancy an Evora now, problem being is getting a 5 year old and a ten year old in the back. How have you found getting kids comfortable in the back ?

Hello Barrie, They're really tight as a 2+2, I think of it as a 2+1. My kids are 11 and 12, they are in it pretty regularly and they fit fine with the one in the back sitting behind the passenger seat. If I need to put two in the back, the one behind the driver has to sit cross legged as there is very little foot room when I have the drivers seat in an OK position, this makes it only suitable for short journeys 4 up. Is also getting a bit close on head room as they grow but is OK. Once again, either of mine are fine in the back for an hour or two behind the passenger seat.

The funny thing is they both absolutely love the car, they enjoy it far more than the previous 911 and M3 convertible and loads of other things we've tried.

What Hungrymc said. Best thing to do is pop down to your local Lotus dealer and try one. Rear bench area in the 400 is apparently a bit wider.

Depends on your height. I am 6.2" and no person of any size could fit behind me. My wife is 5,7" and out tall almost 4 year old fits behind her but not with a lot of space. You really need to try one. One large issue is lack of rear foot room under the front seats. That make a big difference.

Let us know how you get on. They are a wonderful drive, hope you can make the space work as there isn't really anything else as tactile and involving in a 2+2. You have to go to bigger GTs and things like the GTR otherwise.

What is the team view on headlight lacquer? I've done a quick tidy up job on them in-car a while ago but the peel returns. They're now out and ready for a long term fix.

But what is the best long term fix? I'm a bit worried that re-lacquer is probably only a 12 month repair and will need to be repeated. Anyone had it done and had years of no problem afterwards?

I'm starting to lean towards the sand, polish, UV protect polish, paint protection film route. The main reason being it will be easier to re polish and re protect periodically than it is to re lacquer.

What experience do you guys have of how long the repairs last?

I had that, it was sorted with a careful re-fit - particular attention to the double sided foam tape on the leading edge that sticks to the windscreen..... is an annoying noise.

Yes the new one has peeled away from the tape in 4 weeks since it was fitted

I opened up the hole (actually think its a slot) at the bottom of the pillar where the stud on the outside edge of the body is. It felt like the pillar was getting squashed between the body at the top of the windscreen and that stud at the base - it was naturally bowing the pillar away because the pillar felt a bit too long but opening the slot let it sit closer to the windscreen. Also used some really good tape and its been OK since.

Re headlights . Had mine redone at the factory about 2 years ago . All I can remember was the job was done in the paint booth area and may have been put into the paint drying oven .

I will mention that to the dealer

Ahhh.... hadn't even thought of the factory. Silverstone out source them, I have a local specialist repair and restoration company that can also do them.... I'm looking for experience of the lacquer lasting (to make a recomendation) which you have... I may make a phone call.

Apparently applying ppf to the headlights will stop the pealing.

Just done an amazing road trip through the mountains of northern Spain in the Evora.

The car was simply fantastic, the balance and handling driving hard on the mountain roads was superb, the feel of the brakes, the power to squirt between bends in 2nd and 3rd gear was excellent. My car is an IPS and it took a little while to get used to it, but in manual mode it was great.

The car wowed just about everyone who saw it.

On the downside, driving hard in the mountains saw 17mpg.

The car was easily up to the abilities of the Ferrari although sadly the driver wasn't brave enough. I learned to have more confidence as the car was so sure footed and got faster and faster.
