What should I expect from an Evora S

Ferraris in not driving any better than cheaper performance brands shocker.
Amazing what a prancing pony can do on the bonnet of a car.
Don't get me wrong, I've been as lured in as any other petrolhead in the pedestal I have put the donkeys on. However, take emotion from the equation and I cannot say that any Ferrari I have driven has justified its cost over mere mortal cars.
To be fair the Evora is amongst the best handling road cars. This was the first time driving the Evora that I could feel the highish centre of gravity of the engine.Amazing what a prancing pony can do on the bonnet of a car.

I love my Evora, but if money were no object I would be (and have been) tempted by a Ferrari.
Bear in mind that the 360 design is at least 10 years older than the Evora design, the 360 on the trip is 13 years older than my Evora. Car design and technology can move on a lot in that time.

You are quite right, of course. A Caterham was faster round the top gear track than and Enzo, and a Nissan was faster than a 430. But not everyone reckons speed is everything. There are other issues like pride of ownership, history, beauty, heritage and different people put different values on these factors. You may not think that the extra cost is justified but enough other people do think so to make Ferrari a very profitable business .Amazing what a prancing pony can do on the bonnet of a car.

We all have our own ideas. I could buy a Porker with the same performance as the 2360 for half the cost. But to me, a Porker is just so ordinary. Which is why I look on the Evora as the alternative and not a Porker.
So, I’ve had some great drives in my Evora this last few weeks. I have all the 911 driving style habits out of my system at last and I’m really enjoying the traits of the chassis (great front end, mobile rear end) . I didn’t take it on my Lake District weekend as she wanted to go in the other car - missed oportunity but lots of traffic anyway.
The discussion about relative merits of 360/430/Evora etc is unsettling me. I’ve been contemplating moving to something with more charisma or drama. The main thing putting me off is the 2+2 layout. It sounds crazy, but it adds several days a month of usability for me when I can pick up / drop off the kids. I do very little UK mileage now and my other car spends Monday to Friday In a car park while I’m away, so I don’t get a huge amount of opportunity to use my fun car.
I’m going to have a look at V10 R8s and Gallardos. I don’t think the (undoubtedly significant) extra drama is going to be enough for the loss of usability and the extra maintenance commitment........ but we’ll see.

The recent hot spell has had a bit of an impact on my interior trim. Airbag door has lifted (only a couple of mm) in one corner and I have a bit of leather shrinkage on the main IP panel. They're jobs I'll get done over the next month or two but I'm not sure if I re-trim the dash completely standard or do something a little different (some contrast stitching or some alcantara etc)...... I guess standard is better really, but any thoughts / ideas?
Hello All, My Evora went to its new owner on Saturday. It really was a wonderful car, brilliant to drive, lovely looking and very easy to own / keep. The main reason I sold was that I wasn't using it much as I've really enjoyed my motorbikes this year and I didn't like taking the Evora to work.
Its gone to a very enthusiastic new owner (his second Evora) and I'd very happily have another in the future.

Was a difficult decision John and I'm not sure I've made the right call. The car really was wonderful, and more reliable than the 911 that preceded it. I suspect that within a month or two I'm going to be full of regret and looking at 400s.Hungrymc said:

I hope soEvery time I get in it and start it up with that lovely exhaust I have on her and the attention it gets and the balance it has through the corners I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to affford it
