A few more tweaks today. The gas struts for the boot have been noted as "weak" at the last couple of services but still held the boot up. Well with the colder weather they finally gave up the ghost. Cue broom handle prop.

So I ordered a new pair from SGS. Slightly different design but well rated elsewhere. Not massively cheap at £50 for the pair.

Easy enough to change. Seem to do the job. I was expecting the boot lid to go up on its own at about halfway but it just holds at whatever position you put it at. Fine by me.

Also need to address the common issue of a scruffy chimney.

It is just there to pipe heat away from the exhaust manifold so it's not super critical but it was torn and held together with tape. It drew my eye every time I opened the boot and looked awful.

I took it off and gave it a quick spray with some matte black paint and put it back on. Sadly it is only paper and coils and it ripped as it went back on.
Anyone recommend a replacement??

The official Lotus one is only about £12. With a 3 year lifespan though.

Think I need to do both on mine as well! Heat tubing is a definite, and boot blew shut the other day. Had my camera in my hand at the time and instinctively reached to grab the boot as it shut to stop it slamming. Unfortunately camera made a tiny chip in the rear spoiler mad

The pipe is easy to replace, even I managed it at the weekend, a 10 minute job. It’s component 16 in the screenshot (part no. A132S0081F), c.£12 as a previous poster mentioned. You’ll need a replacement cable tie, other parts can be reused from the existing pipe.

Quick update as a bit of history for myself and anyone else interested.
Chimney pipe now replaced. Looks much better!

Also I previously mentioned I was struggling with the pedals being too close together.

Well with it being winter and me wanting to wear normal shoes, and there completely not being a need to heel and toe in an auto I got busy with a file. Much better! Just took the pointy bit off the corner which made so much more space.

Other quirks this month. I managed to slam my keys in the boot whilst out and about. So had to go rummaging for the emergency release which thankfully worked.
And the passenger seat got stuck on its runners... I had the seat tilted forward and then slid it all the way back. It then got jammed against the rear bulkhead (just under the rear seats) to the point I couldn't put the seat back up right. And the rail mechanism was totally jammed. After a while fiddling around and a bit of panicking a long screwdriver and a good hard whack on the mechanism moved it enough to get it sliding again! Phew.

Also note winter wheels now on! Team dynamics 18s front and back. I was expecting it to improve ride quality but interestingly not that much difference

I quite like the all black wheels...

Thanks CTE, don't fear the diamond cuts have only gone away for the winter!
Need to look into getting them refurbished actually as they are starting to look a bit scruffy...

Just had the car professionally detailed by
http://www.smartcleanvaleting.co.uk/ who are based in Cambridgeshire but cover a good chunk of the south east. Super impressed and Ben the owner knows his way around a lotus.
Has really made the colour pop now the swirls are removed. Looks more orange now and the mettalic flake is a lot more vibrant.
Can't stop peaking out the window to have a look!!
(Any dull bits you can see is the factory fit PPF which looks pretty tired now)
