hehe Yes. Having said that though, if the Evora drops to 40% of its value over three years that's £10,000 a year in depreciation. The 360 would probably drop £15k in value over three years if your mileage wasn't excessive (£50k down to £35k - look at how values of Ferraris squash up; a good 328 is £30k!), so that leaves the Ferrari owner £5k a year better off to pay for the extra running costs. I reckon the 360 would cost £1,000 more than the Evora to insure, £1,000 more to fit with tyres and £2,500 more to service, so strictly speaking the 360 owner would break even.

When I had my 360, the annual service was £995, I've just booked the Gallardo in for an annual and it's £999.99 inc vat.

The Elise service last year was £475.

It's not that much of a difference really.

£5k?? Are you having a laugh?

Cambelt change is nothing even close to that, where do you get your info from?

A 360 cambelt is not and engine out job either, and it's £395.

Check out my blog wink I even posted some service bills on the Elise forum the other day. I've had my 111S for four years and it gets driven and treated with a huge amount of care. Despite that, and whether I try an independent or a main dealer, the servicing has been getting on for £1000 every time. The BMW 328i that I run for motorways etc is averaging £3500 a year to service and maintain. eek £1,000 a year for the 360 and Gallardo would be a holiday for my wallet biggrin

Well I tell it like it is, I have just booked in the Gallardo for an annual service at the end of July and the quoted price from Lamborghini Birmingham was £999.99 inc vat.

Plus, taking a look at you running costs, servicing says £897 a year.

eh? I wasn't doubting what you were saying. I'm just saying that that's jolly reasonable for a Gallardo and a 360 given what I spend on a ten year old BMW and a four year old Elise! biggrin

£897 is "getting on for £1000" confused

But whatever you want 'used' not new at the moment, dealers are taking the piss new and its worth £3 to 'them' after six months.

That's a lot for just 'servicing'. You must go through a lot of consumables and/or be spending a lot of time on track. My S1 was as cheap as chips to run until it started getting track use and tired stuff got accelerated wear. However, having spent somewhere in the region of £2.5k (probably more) in parts in the past year I don't anticipate any major costs for a while.

No track days and very careful road driving. For example, the original factory fitted tyres made it to 27k miles with only 50% wear. I've tried both the main dealer and an independent. I do about 5,000 miles a year.

Not disputing that you paid those amounts Rob but it seems a lot annually for 3 'A' and one 'B' service.

Hmm, total repair and maintenance costs on my S2 111S have been around 450 quid a year so far, and that's including all the belts the first year I had it and most of the brake consumables last year (but no tyres yet). I can maintain, tax and insure it for under 1000 pounds a year. If I would do that on a Ferrari, I'd probably be driving one. driving

frown Tell me about it! Annoyingly my supposedly cheap motorway car (328i Sport), has cost about £4000 in 18 months to maintain!! Maybe I'm just cursed biggrin

Maintenance I can see, but to do the lot including insurance for under a grand is bloody good going!

Insurance on my Elise was £700 and that's as an old git with no points, living in the middle of nowhere and with 6+ years no claims.

Insurance aside, you can do it on a Ferrari no problem....see here for service costs at a very reputable indy...http://www.verdi-ferrari.com/servicing.htm

Mind you, on the other hand when the Gallardo clutch went it was going to cost £4k, glad they did it under warranty.

My insurance was about 420 quid this year. I'm 29 with 5 years' no-claims, no points, and quite a lot of post-test training. Tax is about 140 a year.

ETA: This seems to be going a little off topic. hehe

996TT is a very capable car but it is also very un-envolving to drive.
rear "seats" are a joke as the backs are actually tilted at a forward angle making it almost impossible for small people to get comfort levels to reasonable on a moderate (10 mile) drive.
Not having driven the Evora I can't comment from experience but it would be very hard to beat the porsche for a very un-eventful (though quick) drive.
