chatting to a few spanish pals at the local bikers bar last night they told me that they now seem to get a fine every single time they are stopped, even if its a simple paperwork check the guardia will find somthing however obscure just to write a ticket and raise a bit of revenue.also read in the paper that 50% off the multa could be had by paying within 15 days, think it used to be 30% iirc-has mandy or campbell got new jobs here to put a spin on this?

I've been stopped a few times on my H-D but never had a problem or a multa, remember they don't have the power of the old days they are just traffic cops these days which irks them somewhat, not like in Francos day.I normally wind them up straight away by giving them my paper licence which they turn every which way to try and read it, then they ask me why I don't have a spanish licence at which point I show them a piece of paper issued by Brussels which states in spanish that I don't have to change my licence until it is up for renewal like 2020, then they normally get pissed of and just say Fuera to me and I'm off,or otherwise they are just plain ignorant of all traffic laws in Europe in general and only understand some spanish.

when i used to have boys motorbike blatting hols in spain years ago the plod seemed quite tolerant-more so in northern spain,we had been doing 100+ when stopped and just had a nice chat and they told us to pull a few wheelies for them, showed a genuine interest in the bikes and even reccomended the best roads in the area for us!!how different now.
