When I lived near Marbella I used to like riding the mountain road from San Pedro de Alcantara up the twisties to Ronda, always lots of like minded people on that road.

Yes, I used to love the drive up to Ronda, especially in the evenings when the sun gave the mountains that lovely orangey red glow. Then sit and have a beer on one of the resturaunt balconies that hang out over the gorge. smile
Oh and fill my water bottles at the font half way up.
Now I'm in Mallorca, I like this one, but the recent cycling craze has made it impossible to enjoy. frown

Bloody Road Lice we have it just as bad here, right pain in the arse.............ours are more mountain bikes than anything, who think they own the roads and yet pay no tax !

I would second that, but its even better if you take the 355 from Marbella to coin and from there across to Ronda returning down to San pedro.

Altea - Guadalest, CV 755, Guadalest - Alcoy, CV 70.
Not sure what route we took going back, bimbling around in the sunshine.
Stunning.
Sagaris loved it.

I'm no fan of the Marbella to Ronda road to be honest. Forget going up there on a Sunday, it's full of bikers that seemingly stop to go round the corners rolleyes

Galicia, the interior road (not the coast road) from Muros through Paxareiras, Negreira to Santiago. Up up up the mountain, lovely smooth wide tarmac with lots of twisties with nice camber! cloud9 and none of those bloody Lycra Louts huffing and puffing up the hills two abreast, or in groups of a hundred!
here's a pic from the top. cool

Hi cabbron, thanks.
Just did a googlemap street view, looks just the job.
A beer is always welcome as well. I'm staying near to Denia for a couple of weeks.

Road from Avila to Toledo is great ( the early bit)

Best driving road in Spain is - without doubt in my opinion, the EX 118 from Guadalupe to Navalmoral de la Mata.

Other great drive is Talavera de la Reina to Avila and the run from Navalmoral to Jarandilla de la Vera is good too

Got quite a few others but I think I'll keep them up my sleeve.....

Keep the whole bloody lot up your sleeve if you like there are plenty of real good roads in Spain.
How long you lived here or are you a newbie to Spain ?

I made a mistake when I replied to your post, Castill la Mancha only has crap flat roads there certainly is nothing exciting there, you need to stop dreaming.

The decent roads in Spain are up in the Picos de Europe, the Pyrenees, Galicia, Extramadura, the road into the mountains around Ronda and across the backwoods, but certainly not Castilla la Mancha and I drive these roads regularly for over 20 years............another really good road is through Despenaperros which is probably one of the great ones in the middle of Spain for a short burst through the twisties.
