Looking at the table it appears to be the demise of Brazil and Argentina that have helped. God knows how England were even 6th in any case.

Basically you get points based on your results in international matches over the last 4 years adjusted for how recent the match, the importance of the match, the quality of the opponent and the quality of the region in which you play (e.g. UEFA, CONCACAF etc)

I was at the wales quailfer a couple of months back, the first 20 mins was decent, soon as we went 2 up, the game was terrible. Fair enough they done the job etc, but we could of stuff them if they would of carried on the same pace and pressure.

How the hell did Norway get to number 11, they haven't qualified for a major tournament in years, are doing simply OK in a not too tricky group in the current Euro qualifiers (but haven't exactly scored a barrel-load of goals or won every game), and have lost and drawn their last 2 games?
