Celtic fans are really butthurt over this, managers come and go as do players, we know this better than anyone.
He did exactly the same to Watford. Things were going well, 2 weeks before he walked he talked about integrity - and ran. The man is completely disloyal - but then again, apart from the fans, almost everyone is in football.
This season Celtic started off poorly. Performances were weak and lots of dropped points. There was something not right. It is only since January Celtic have played well and opened up a gap in a league that should be a walk in the park. The points total is poor compared to other years and have tailed off badly since Rodgers' original impact.
There was a falling out with Moussa Dembele at the start of this season where Dembele came out and said you couldn't trust Rodgers. Also Dedryck Boyata wanted to force a move. There was an awkward spat and Rodgers did leave Boyata with his name in tatters. Two high profile falling outs did suggest all wasn't well, especially when the whole team were underperforming.
It seems a bit two faced to take such a stance against Boyata and Dembele and then contradict your very own actions and words.
I think a lot of people anticipated this was his last season. It's just the way that he has gone about this that does feel rather distasteful.
I can see why he wanted to get his foot back into the EPL, but he could have handled this a lot better.

Too right. The thing is people move for more money and different opportunities, it's just life. We lost Kante, he never gave us a second season, but he went on to greater things so fair play to him. We lost Mahrez, he was angling for a move at everything opportunity, but he's not at Man City winning trophies, so fair play to him too!The man is completely disloyal - but then again, apart from the fans, almost everyone is in football.

if he does well, I doubt if anyone will care about his integrity
Depends what the expectations are- he will struggle to get Leicester into the top 4-6 every season I feel, but top 7- 8 should be attainable every season
Doesn't every team look at the league and think the top 6 is pretty certain from the off and that they should be targeting 7th or 8th? Depends what the expectations are- he will struggle to get Leicester into the top 4-6 every season I feel, but top 7- 8 should be attainable every season
Equally it wouldn't be a surprise to see 10/12 teams in the league struggling against relegation.

Rogers has no class at all, he showed that at watford and liverpool so im not sure why anyone would be surprised.
don't recall him lacking class at Liverpool, we sacked himhe lacked the ability not to talk cliche mumbleswerve bks in post-match interviews but he is not alone there

What will Rodgers have to achieve at Leicester for him to be considered a success?
Clearly he is going to win fk all, and will probably be gone within 18 months, so what ambitions do the fans and club have for his tenure?
Play the first squad in cup games for a start. Give Vardy more support at the front. Don't give lame shoulder shrugging excuses with a French accent in post game interviews.Clearly he is going to win fk all, and will probably be gone within 18 months, so what ambitions do the fans and club have for his tenure?

Actually give the cups a go (hopefully getting close to the final in one), nuture this young team into an experienced one over the next couple of seasons, finish in the top 8. Oversee the development of the ground expansion and new training complex while phasing out the past it players and brining in decent replacements.Clearly he is going to win fk all, and will probably be gone within 18 months, so what ambitions do the fans and club have for his tenure?
If he can achieve this then he'll be a success for me, I'm not setting the bar too high in terms of league position or cup wins as we are a team in transition, but there have been occasional positive signs.

This, in a nutshell. Throwing the cups away to try and finish 7th instead of 9th is ridiculous, the fans want to be entertained.LeighW said:

Yep, pretty standard fare for most managers.Other than that cringe worthy TV program he did, I never really had an issue with him. He gave us our best season for a number of years,
but was saddled with some truly rubbish transfer decisions (Mario, for example), ... how much of that was down to him and how much the 'transfer committee' we'll never know.
We certainly played (or tried to play) decent football under him.
Personally, I hope does well.

Well yet again we have lost due to an injury time goal.....I hope our new manager will remind our team that the game is not 90 mins long...... but ends when the whistle blows!
Kasper really needs dropping, he's been pretty poor for the past 18 months. His shot stopping is one of the best in the Premiership, but his commandment of his box , his distrubition and his set pieces are poor. The final 11 games this season for me are a bonus, they're there purely to give Rodgers an idea of who stays, who goes and where we strengthen. I've read earlier that Monaco want 40m for Tieleman, I'd pay it in a heartbeat, even if he stays for 2 seasons then goes, we'll make a profit. If we can throw SIlva in with 20m that would be great business.
I was very surprised he gave Morgan a start. As much as I love him he's well past it, what little pace he had has now gone and this really should be his last season as a regular starter (although I said this last season too).
certainly had the impact we were hoping for, not by results but the fact we seem to be hungrier again, passing with more intent, closing down higher up the pitch etc not forgetting we have someone who realises that in Vardy, he is like 'The Yak', feed him and he will score!
Telemans (I know theres an i in there somewhere) is looking great, think he still needs more fitness as 1st half hes mega then fades away a little in the 2nd but he certainly is able to pick out some nice defence splitting passes
