Why on earth would you want to prevent controversy?? I don't get that at all. Controversy is the lifeblood of the game. You seem to think football should be fair. It's because that it can be cruel and unfair that we love it.

I've been to hundreds of games over 40 yrs with Chelsea. One of my favourite memories was an away league cup replay at spurs in about Jan 91. Gascoinge bursts into the area and Cundy flies in waste high and chops him down. A stonewall penalty to spurs. Stevie Wonder would have given it. But the ref doesn't give it. Their players surround the ref, and whilst that is going on we go up the other end and Townsend scores. Complete mayhem. They went to pieces after that and we won 3-0 on the night. I was laughing for days. And of course I've been to many games where things have gone against us. That's football, and I love it.
