The best goalkeeper in the premiership...

I'm kind of surprised - but I did know he was a good shot-stopper.
But so was Jim Leighton - who became known as Dracula (doesn't like crosses...) in his time at United.
However, the real surprise is how few shots he's 'parried' into danger - I thought with his well-publicised fumbles, he'd be looking pretty poor on those stats.
The biggest problem, for me, is that the defence don't trust him - and he doesn't have the presence to command his area in the same way big Peter or Edwin did.
I really want to see Lindegaard given a decent run in the first team - as I really do believe he's got better all-around ability, although he's not a spectacular shot-stopper.

I think you are pretty accurate with your assessment there. But so was Jim Leighton - who became known as Dracula (doesn't like crosses...) in his time at United.

De Gea is a fantastic shot stopper, and I thought he looked great when he played for Athletico Madrid but he hasn't yet captured that form at United. Perhaps some if it is a language thing and he'll improve in time? Lindegaard definitely has presence in the box though - combine the qualities of both and you'd have a great keeper!
Szczesny is fantastic for such a young keeper - great shot stopper and eager to organise his defence. I can see him becoming a real top class keeper.
The dutchmen, Vorm and Krul have both looked very good this year too. Finally, an honourable mention for Ali Al-Habsi at Wigan - his saves kept them in the Prem last year and although he is prone to the odd error he is also capable of pulling off miracles. I've no idea why Bolton sold him as Jaaskelainen won't go on forever and they have no other keepers of comparable quality.

De Gea should make the grade. He spent last season looking pretty decent behind the Atleti defence, who have been comedy of the highest order for several years (at least). Probably suffering a bit of sporting PTSD.He's now playing behind a fairly unsettled United defence and is a young lad in a new country with all of the pressure of playing for one of the world's biggest clubs that may be going through something of a transitional period. He needs to bulk up a bit and I'd agree needs to be more commanding. However, unless he falls apart, I'm sure he'll make it.
Best at the moment - for my money Joe Hart. Needs a final little bit of polish but nice to have a good English 'keeper again.
It's very hard to analyse a keeper on stats in my opinion....as others have said the ability to deal with crosses and organise defences is key. Also the kind of defence you play behind makes a difference.....Joe Hart probably has easier saves to make as he's playing behind a dominant defence and midfield so a lot of the saves will be from marginal chances probably. A bit like say John Terry looks a better defender when he's not playing in a high line and Essien is playing in front of him. Having said that Hart looks the best at the moment but I think Sczczcz at Arsenal is going to be the best keeper in the Premier League in a year or two (if Barca haven't signed him).
Tim Krul has looked pretty solid this season. Joe Hart is another but he has a very decent defence in front of him. I could be biased and say John Ruddy from Norwich but I won't. He was certainly at fault for one of Man City's goals last week but then again he hasn't got that decent a defence in front of. Norwich have conceded at least one goal in every Premiership game this season.
