Something I thought when watching the football this week, Andy Carroll should take a look at Mario Gomez for Bayern Munich. Thought he was brilliant for a big man.
Any views ?
Carroll has scored two winners in two games, he needs to keep getting starts. No doubt he will be benched again now he is finding some form, he will become a monster for us IMHO...Any views ?

Some tentative talk linking us with Drogba in the Independent today. If Chelsea don't offer him the 2 year deal extension he desires would you be happy to see him at Liverpool on a free?
Could he provide competition and set an example to Carroll or would his age mean that he'll shortly be a shadow of his former self?

I think the whole 'hit 30 and you're over the hill' concept is bks. Drogba is a great footballer and will continue to be for another few years at least.Could he provide competition and set an example to Carroll or would his age mean that he'll shortly be a shadow of his former self?
That said, would I want him in my team? Hell no!! He's an absolute disgrace to the game and I utterly detest the man. His histrionics really, really piss me off.
Suarez has gone down easily a number of times and he has taken a few dives, (which is reprehensible) but he's not even close to Drogbas league, in my opinion.

over the last 10 years what would you say is the strongest first XI we've ever had? (i.e. they must have all been at the club at the same time, not just the strongest 11 players from any of the last 10 years)
Mine would be from the 2008/2009 season:
Reina
arbeloa, agger, carra, aurelio
masherano, lucas
kuyt, gerard, alonso,
torres
And as for just the strongest 11 from all years over the past decade, (assuming each player was at their peak in that time) for me it would be:
Reina
Johnson, agger, hyypia, riise
mash, lucas
gerard, alonso,
Suarez,
torres
Over to you...
Don't think I could pick Lucas, Masch, and Alonso in the same team - need a bit more width. So I'd drop one of Lucas or Masch - take your pick. Bit of a struggle to find somebody to put in - thinking left side. For 2008/9 (I'd agree this was our best side) I'd give it to Yossi - he was consistent and chipped in with quite a few important goals.Mine would be from the 2008/2009 season:
Reina
arbeloa, agger, carra, aurelio
masherano, lucas

Other option for the period would be Luis, although he was always a bit in and out - other option might be Bellamy.
Left side in the 08/09 season we had Riera and Babel. I don't think either would make the strongest 11. Yossi probably would though - probably instead of Lucas.

Couldn't agree more. The way he picked up the ball a few times in midfield and carried it forward against Barca on Weds night was really impressive. That said, would I want him in my team? Hell no!! As for what comes with it, 'absolute disgrace and I utterly detest him' sums it up perfectly.

That's a really good question.Could he provide competition and set an example to Carroll or would his age mean that he'll shortly be a shadow of his former self?
Yes, I would actually.

I'd take him with open arms, same as I would have with Adebayor, Tevez or any other so called trouble maker - who all happen to be absolutly world class strikers.
I wonder if Ballotelli fancies a move?
I wouldn't have any of the players you mention. I like Mario but still wouldn't want him, he's a character but not worth it for all the baggage you get with him. Ade, Tevez and Droga - hate them all. I wonder if Ballotelli fancies a move?
Funny old game.

I loved Tevez when he was with us, obviously my opinion has changed somewhat and he wouldnt be welcome backFunny old game.
Ade is the odd one out in this list for me, most of them are very good but come with problems, Ade reminds me more of El Hadji Diouf, trouble and without a lot of the skills to make up for the trouble
Drogba I cannot stand and would hate to see him in a Utd shirt
Ballotelli I would sign in a heartbeat, he is mad but he is also very good and only 21, he will grow up soon

Yes, because what we want in our team is the two worst divers in the league...
What ... are we going for Ashley Young too?He won the penalty ergo he is a good diver
Being serious though I was disappointed in him exaggerating it and am glad SAF has had a word

Little Baby Jesus, do people still watch Soccer am?
(I clicked that expecting Gerrard )
still love Soccer AM its good to lounge on the sofa with a hangover (I clicked that expecting Gerrard )
The Carroll one stuck with me more as its a rare one in that I think scoring it may have been easier than convincing the ref he was taken out
