It doesn't matter who it is does it? I wish the whole world could collectively go 'oh ok' and move on. Instead there will be a furore.
Of course it matters, how will the opposing team supporters know who to chant witty and amusing songs at?LotusOmega375D said:
No sour grapes here (much), but funny how no-one mentioned ex Bayern Great and Board Member Uli Hoeness is likely to face jail for self-confessed tax evasion. Also Ribery seems to have got away with his underage sex allegation. The much-vaunted Bundesliga's no better than the Premier League in that point of view.

More club v country disputes no doubt.

I think it's a good idea in one sense as it'll feel more competitive with a league table, and hopefully will lead to balance of teams playing to win whilst trying new tactics and players.
But there shouldn't be too many matches disrupting the proper season. Let's say, maybe the same number of matches currently played?
Also, the league should roll over 5 years IMO, and be linked to the co-efficient ranking system.

Cynically, I think its another way to extort money from fans and keep football in the news 365 days a year. The players are paid handsomely by their clubs but are having less time to rest and recover. I don't feel sorry for the poor lambs on 200k a week, but I am not convinced that we need more football tournaments.
This smacks of footballs governing body trying to make more cash for itself, fans will pay more money, other sports will suffer as the season will be extended etc etc

It's fking garbage is what it is. In principle the idea is good - ie friendlies contribute to rankings - but the execution is fked.
I wrote my post before I read the article. It shouldn't be a combination of friendlies and qualifiers, after a couple of seasons every country's domestic teams will be playing like the Italian league - slow!

Good. That elbow was a disgrace and it's completely beyond me how he only got a yellow for it
