Hang on, am I missing something.

Barcelona have played 4 league games and one CL game.

A bit early to be writing them off and saying how far they’ve fallen IMO.
True. 8 points from 4 games is hardly horrific.

I'm talking more about financially and how much is wrong with the club.

Saying that they didn't register a single shot on target in their CL game, which is the first time that's happened

There is no quick fix either due to the set up of the club. It's not as if they can find a new Chinese billionaire owner or similar external investment. They only have their commercial income (sans Messi and likely on field success) or try to borrow more money at lower interest. It's why they and Madrid are so keen on a Super League.

Have you actually been watching the games though?

Horrendous football, made even worse because it's being played by people wearing Barca shirts.

Like many other teams, they'll have to get used to a lean spell again in winning things.

The trouble is they've forgotten those days and assumed they were gone forever.

From when they lost in the European Cup final to Benfica in 1961, Barca didn't get to another European Cup final until 1986, when they lost again, to Steaua Bucharest, and they had to wait until 1992 to actually win it for the first time.
Completely different times.

Football is a world wide business. From TV rights money to sponsorship deals, Oligarchs and Arabs and meanwhile UEFA made sure the top leaques get there 4 CL places quaranteed.

The difference between the top clubs and the rest is bigger than ever.

Steaua Bucharest will never experience a final again. Barca will.

Barca really do operate in a fantasy land all of their own, don't they?

Here's a quote from today's media from Joan Laporta regarding Messi's exit:

Laporta said:
Everything indicates that he already had the offer from PSG. Everyone knew that he had a very powerful offer. We knew that from Messi's side they had a very good offer.

I did hope that at the last minute Messi would say he would play for free. I would have liked that and he would have convinced me. I understand that the League would have accepted it. But we cannot ask that of a player of his level.

I thought it because I know him, he went up to the first team when I was there, I helped his family a lot. He knew that when we our economic situation recovered he would be reciprocated.
So, you thought that maybe arguably the world's best player, who was earning millions every year, would play.......for free?

That report on the BBC website shows Koeman really has fk all people skills.

It is shocking how quickly Barca have fallen though.
The reality obviously is that the current situation Barca is in has fk all to do with Koeman.

The shocking thing is how bad Barca was run this past decade, the inability to rejuvenate the squad, how much money they spend on both transfer fees and wages on (mediocre) players, how discustingly bad the Socios system is and the (short termism) effect the presidential elections have on the club. Candidate presidents promise (to buy and sack) everything (players and coaches) just to get elected. Presidents who have no knowledge of the world of football whatsoever.

And of course how stupid some people are who are unable to recognise that.

You should thank the English FA first and foremost. English football is owned by Arabs, Russians, Americans and other tax dodging scum.

Incredible.

Trying to paint the best player in the world as the bad guy because he didn't agree to play for free.

Cloud cuckoo land.

Still early days, but given a weak league he now plays in he's going to have to up his goal scoring rate.
Otherwise the claim by some to be the best ever may be hard to justify.
Also noticed the negative press regarding his comment on wind after the recent international match.

I’ve already seen some story in the press about him appearing in 2026. Just no. He’d be moving a lot less than he did in this one! I hope, unlike Ronnie, he doesn’t play on too long …

Probably the sensible move but he's still the best there is even if he's operating at 60% of his peak.

He's on 98 International goals too. I reckon when he's 50 with his feet up he'd regret not bagging another couple.

Could see him doing another Copa, assume it's only 18 months away.

No way will he retire. He can now play pressure free for his country. Will final get the adoration of his own people that he has always deserved. Now is his time to enjoy the game the most.

I didn't say I think he would retire, but that it might be a good time to from a "greatest ever" perspective.
