BCM - Firmino has been injured and the theory was to play with more "legs" in midfield.
Being a masochist I've watched that free kick from all angles. Sometimes you just have to say "wow, that's good!"
Oh ok, Make you right about the free kick, Any fan of the beautiful game just has to stand back & admire a moment of sheer brilliance like that.Being a masochist I've watched that free kick from all angles. Sometimes you just have to say "wow, that's good!"
And Messi seems to find brilliance all the time and make it look normal. He is one of those players that my Grandfather would have said is "worth the entrance fee just to watch him" and he only ever said that about Duncan Edwards, Pele, Eusebio and Brian Deane...... (well he was a Sheffield United fan)

Jiffy it sounds like i am about the same age as your granddad and to that list i would addThe rest of the 57/8 ManU side ( saw their last ever game in the UK)
The Spurs side of 61-63 Messi is the reincarnation of Sir JIm his speed from a standing start is phenomenal
Denis Law
George Best Better than Ronaldo
Len Shackleton,
Brian Clough
Tom Finney
Matthews
JIm Baxter ( when he was at Rangers and came to Spurs in a Cup winners match in 63)
Johnny Haynes
Bobby Moore
Rodney Marsh
Colin Bell
Cruyff
Eusebio again at Spurs in the 62 semi ( saw a vid on you tube and pointed out to my lad exactly where i was on that night)
Bergkamp
Henry
Had to put two arse players in there for PC reasons!!!
Klinsmann
Ginola
Ardiles
Looking back Spurs have had their fair share of good players (NOT neccesarily good teams)
The one i missed out on was a player in the lower divisions chap called Robin Friday. His antics off field made George Best look like the Pope. OK he never played in Div 1 but by all accounts he was phenomenal. Managers knew he was good but steered well clear of him.
The book about him is very good Still revered in Reading and Cardiff to this day

Am I missing something here? Everyone appears to be banging on about this freekick? The defender heads it into his own net? 1:01 ?
Cleverly taken yes, but if the defender had headed it forwards rather than into his own net it would not even have been a goal?
Happy to be corrected?
And before anyone starts, this is not intended to take anything away from Messi, he is a superb footballer.

Those names were certainly ones he talked about. IN the 80's he really liked Hoddle and Le Tissier for making football feel special for the fansThe rest of the 57/8 ManU side ( saw their last ever game in the UK)

Do you think we could slowly but surely seeing the end of the Barcelona era? Blown a massive amount of money the last few years and some odd signings. All eyes will be on them when Messi leaves/retires. Real Madrid struggled when Ronaldo left but seem to have got themselves back on track and on their way to claim the league.

They have an ageing team, all of their better players are on the wrong side of thirty and they won't be easily or cheaply replaced. I don't believe they are in a great position financially either and the loss of revenue over the last few months will have added to their worries.
Or maybe, they will never fully recover from this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDjGNsk9b00
