Anyone suspect that Man Citys owners will do similar with what they did with Lampard? Messi wants to finish off in the States, so New York City sign him and loan him to Man City for 2 seasons or so then he can go and wind down in NYC.

Potentially he could join NYC as one of their designated players. He bypasses the salary cap issues, and then he could be loaned to City.

He might not fancy New York though, but, they are one of the 'big' teams in MSL......

It's PSG or Citeh for me.

I think PSG would like him but having him, Neymar and Mbappe all on £££££ contracts is a problem, even considering their limitless funds.

He's only 34 this year. I think he could do a year or two in the Premier League at City and then head off to New York.

Would love to see him in the PL, would be galling to see him at Citeh, they still wouldn't sellout a home game.

Will they stump up the circa £2m a week he'll command though?

Feck, it was 1:1 when I last looked.

They've overturned bigger deficits to PSG though.

I can't see why they'd really bother? I genuinely don't feel he'd improve their team that much. I mean, they're doing so rubbish rigtt now without him hehe

Yes, but not in France. I think PSG will have learned their lesson.

And on top of the the deep financial mess they are.....

£1.1bn in debt is an astonishing amount of debt for a football club to get into.....no wonder there's serious talk in the past week or so, that the club may in fact go bankrupt.

Barcelona are a long way from these relatively recent teams.

If Messi goes then it will take a HUGE financial burden off them, and cut outgpoing on players wages.

The only thing with more holes in than Barcelona's defence last night is their finances.

I'd like to see Messi in the PL, but can't see it happening.

I don't think Barca could afford to keep him even if he wanted to stay, leaving PSG being where I think he'd go. Especially with Poch as manager, and the likes of Neymar saying they'd like to play with Messi again.

If it does end up happening, it's a shame there's so little competition within Ligue 1 because a team with Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe all together would be fantastic to watch should there be a bit of healthy competition.

Ironically, his ridiculous salary over so long has probably significantly contributed to their financial situation.....

I don;t think PSG can afford Neymar, Mbappe and Messi

Messi may have to take a cut on those wages

I think he's going to have to be realistic in the current climate, and take a cut to go anywhere.......I can't see any other club paying him what's he's been getting at Barca......?

I’ve said before that we would take at St Mary’s but he’d likely have to start on the bench behind Ings and Adams until he earned his place

Not a chance, especially now he's 34 years old, too. I just can't see him moving to the PL, or PSG, or anywhere else other than USA to be honest.
