Aother goal today, and player of the season, thats 15 in the league. Not many English strikers have done that in the last 5 years.

No doubt the pundits on MOTD will say he's not worth taking. But what do they know. Norwich's player of the year three years on the trot. A prolific goal scorer for Norwich. Give the guy a chance, a fresh face in the England team will do them good, plus give Norwich the credibility they need.

It is a shame. I wouldn't mind seeing what he can do, but then there's the whole england manager crap, whereby so many people would rip him to shreds for trying something new.

This annoys me, quite significantly.

As far as i am concerned, give him a go! Certainly get him in training, to at least be a contender!

I was shocked to hear Shearer last night saying he's had a great season but he shouldn't go and that Crouch should go instead! Seriously, he's scored 15 goals for a mid-table prem team, imagine what he could have done at Utd, Citeh, Spuds, Arse etc.

Wound me up a little too. I think Shearer said Crouch has a better record. Well he will have, Holt's never played for England. Crouch hasn't got a better record this season.

In a way, as a Norwich fan, i'm not bothered if he goes or not. I'd rather he be fit for the start of the new season rather than carrying an injury. Playing in a mixed up England side under a lot of pressure might not do his confidence too much, though from hit POV, i'm sure he'd love an England cap.

Squad is named this week, i'd expect it'll be something like Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck and Carroll/Crouch. Don't see why the 2 young un's should be in there, neither have played particularly well for top teams, in fact Sturridge has barely featured under RDM.

Hey ho, think i've contributed enough to this thread. I'm slightly disappointed a certain QPR fan hasn't been on, though now they are safe and he's posting again, i's expect he'll be on to have a wind up...

yes mr b davis so said you.

well we hoped at the CG

we were mightly pissed at the CG

Now Norwich have all but survived in the Premier League in a safe mid-table spot with Holt as top scorer and 2nd highest scoring English striker in the league those same people are saying he isn't good enough for England.
we are quiet at the CG

He's scored in all 4 leagues in successive seasons. International football is the only level left to move up to (I don't see Norwich qualifying for England any time soon). Give him a chance at International level and I'm pretty sure he will score goals.
no he is crap, rapes kiddies, clubs baby seals and watches s&m necrophiliac, bestiality porn. sack him and run him out of town.
p.s. Grant we'll have you back mate smile

the guy should get his chance at international level and actually get time on the pitch. he has proved all his detractors wrong so far let him prove shearboredom and leTiTier wrong as well.

Put yourself in GH's shoes. He's 31, as an 'old fashioned' CF, he maybe has one or two decent seasons left in him. Whilst hero-worshiped at Carrow Road, he has a manager whose style is very much based on bringing in lower league / hungry for success players probably on, in Premier League terms, comparatively lower wages. And for the good of squad morale Lambert isn't likely to break the wage structure anytime soon. So GH has to make the break to cash in on the limited time he has left at the highest level.

Or, according to the forums, he knows Lambert is going and is jumping ship / going with him. Or he's trying to lever the board to release more funds for signings next season. Or he is trying to up the attendance at Adam Drury's testimonial (and possible 'farewell Grant Holt') match next week. Or another one of numerous conspiracy theories going around.

I think it's more likely to be as per paragraph 1. The days of player loyalty at the top level are long gone.

Anyway WFLGH biggrinbiggrin - If he goes he will always have been a major part of a very memorable 3 years and I hope will always be thought to be a Norwich City legend.

Its all about money, perhaps he's gone about it the wrong way though. I think Holt will still be at Norwich in August.

I agree it's a strange way of going about it, especially with Drury's testimonial on Tuesday - if he plays then his last memories of Carrow Road will likely be the boos ringing out (not that I'd join in)
I wonder if he's been badly advised by an agent.

The poor timing aside, he is due a significant improvement on his contract. The one he signed after promotion was a "ok, lets see what you can do at this level" type of contract. I think he's done enough to warrant an improvement on that.

If another club can offer him a lot more than we are willing or able to pay (sensibly our wage budget is set so we don't bankrupt the club on relegation) then I wouldn't begrudge him a move for one second. The guy was playing in L2 when we signed him and didn't even get into pro football till he was into 20s and most of it at a low level till his meteoric rise with us. His career earnings, even taking into account the past year or 2, will not have been huge.

He's got a family and a future to think about, could anyone honestly say they'd turn down double the money for doing the same job?

Grant Holt can fk right off.

I don't mind if he wants more money. Most people do, and someone with a short career at the top can be forgiven for wanting to maximise their earning while they can.

I don't mind if he's been tapped up by another club and fancies a change. Who wouldn't want to take an opportunity to play for a bigger/better club?

What I do mind is the way he's gone about achieving whatever his end goal is. He could have waited his turn in the contract negotiations, and then asked for more money. If the club aren't giving him what he wants, then he can express his interest in leaving for pastures new in private. The club could then announce that they're listening to offers.

If he's been tapped up, then he should leave negotiations to the club. They hold his registration for another 2 years. The ball is in the management's hands. The only thing that his request changes is the opinion of many NCFC fans towards him. Myself included.

Personally, if he's put in a transfer request, I'd be happy to see him leave for 3-4 million. Buy Jordan Rhodes in the summer, or Jay Rodriguez.

The fat fking ungrateful can fk off back to Singapore, Kwik Fit, Shrewsbury or any other st hole for all I care.

He's 31, signed a new contract in 2011, presumably thinking, i'm in the PL, we'll get relegated, but i'll still have a job.

He's performed at a level where people have suggested (rightly so IMO) he should get in the England set up.

His agent should be sacked for not getting him a contract renegotiation put in should they survive. He's worth considerably more than he's getting. He's right to want more money, he has a family to look after with not much time left in his football career, he needs to make hay whilst the sun shines, good luck to him. Norwich would be daft not to break their wage structure for a proven goal scorer.

Wouldnt surprise me if the likes of fulham or everton start sniffing around to be honest, again - rightly so.

Great old fashioned CF - would slot in to most teams in the EPL.

It's hard to not jump to conclusions with the state of the media, but I guess there are underlying reasons which no one know about but GH and management.

Good luck to him (easy for me to say as i am obviously not a NCFC fan!)

It's academic now, but you missed Danny Graham of your list.

I've heard rumours that this whole transfer request thing, is not about money, but more how a dispute between 2 players and a WAG has been handled/resolved.

As I said Friday, I still expect Holt to be at Norwich at the start of the season. I think we'll get this sorted...

Is this the 'Tierney bummed Morison's OH' conspiracy... I think it must be true as everyone seems to have heard about it and Morison did sulk for a long time.

Mind you, I've seen Tierney's OH and if he did the dirty, he is a fool!
