Well, that's it. It's all over.
We can hold our heads high that our comparatively small budget has run a side that has spent more in 6 years than we have in the entire EPL history so close.
I'm not sure I would link Utd to 'small budget' even comparatively, We can hold our heads high that our comparatively small budget has run a side that has spent more in 6 years than we have in the entire EPL history so close.
I've already posted the facts - Mansour alone has spent more money than United have since the start of Premiership Football.
And yes, I am bitter, as this season has really drawn the line in the sand - the Premier League is now about who has the richest owner. When your income can't even pay the playing staff wage bill, then you're no longer operating in the same world as the rest of the league.

Man utd have been bullying the smaller sides with their financial muscle for years , I don't think you will get much sympathy from a lot of fans
Man utd have blown it plain & simple
"Comparatively small budget" yeah right

Organic growth through success on the pitch - not a rich Arab's latest status toy.
Meh. How it is any particular difference getting your money from merchandise, etc, or by someone's hard graft elsewhere I don't know. Of mr Arab wants to spend his hard earned, I have no issue. It is certainly no different than getting a new owner who wipes out your debt, or something like that. HeatonNorris said:
It's comparatively small compared with City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and lately even Spurs...

You need to calm down a bit, bitterness should be reserved for Ciddy, who in their minds have now won a "Massive" PL title.I've already posted the facts - Mansour alone has spent more money than United have since the start of Premiership Football.

There have been times before when a rich patron has pushed their club to the title and then things have not lasted. It happened with Blackburn, it happened with Chelsea. It takes a lot to be truly dominant and as Blackburn will admit, one PL title (or even 3 in Chelsea's case) does not make them a dominant force.
Ciddy may well go on to this, but it will be 10 years or so before they have established themselves as a true force.

Wrong.
At least if you're going to try to argue a point, get the facts straight.
Sorry, it was first on the LSE.At least if you're going to try to argue a point, get the facts straight.
Incidentally:
In 1902, only a sizeable donation from J.H. Davies, the managing director of Manchester Breweries, saved the club from bankruptcy.
Financial doping in 1902? Blimey.
Edit to add: All respect to Fergie, he is definitely one of the all time greats.

(They refused to share the council house with Stockport and refused to enter into talks to let Stockport move into Maine Road when they vacated it. Now Stockport are right on the brink and fighting for survival whilst they're buying league titles to put in their rented stadium)

It does seem odd that supporters of teams that have had a massive financial advantage in the past tend to be the ones that complain about being outspent.
You won't find many Utd fans giving that I don't think apart from one it seems in fact one of the most vociferous voices has been a SpudIt IS NOT over we have to win and win well today, QPR could be fighting for their lives next week, we
are Utd we are the kings of digging it out when everyone else thinks its done

Supporter, rather than supporters, if you read the thread a bit closer.SPending a fortune isnt great for the game overall, but we've done it for years. I also know that whilst e've done it off merchandise and the like, we did have our own benefactor in Louis Edards all those years ago. I think it's just the speed that Ciddy have done it was sticks in some people's mouths.
Personally, I'm less fussed about the money and more about it firstly being Ciddy and secondly that we had a chance and blew it.
Cue a summer of newspaper articles 'the end of a dynasty' blah blah blah. Writing off not winning the league once as the end of an era is tbh the most annoying part of finishing second.
But we will be back next year, even stronger, with another year's experience and maybe a couple of new faces - we will be underdogs next year but never write off United!
