The joey barton thread

The same as him trying to get one of Man City's players sent off for retaliation when he was red carded on the last day of the season I guess.
I'm no fan of the man but that kind of thing goes on game in, game out, it's not limited to Barton. Bobby Zamora recounts the 'take one of them with you' story quite well.bhstewie said:
There are usually little giveaways about the sort of st people have been reading/watching/listening to and when Joey Barton is banging on about "DEI" and "woke" I'm going to guess he's gone down that weird rabbit hole quite few blokes seem to.
Yep. The Hopkins/GB News playbook. Pathetic. He always was a thicko who thought he was very much the opposite. bobbo89 said:
I've just followed him on Twitter, not into football but he's proper going off on one and it's both hilarious and worrying in equal measure.
He's kind of holding a mirror up to some very hypocritical people but in a very unhinged way, he's clearly lost all fks which can sometimes be good but he's doing it to the point that suggests something else is going on and maybe someone needs to step in...
...we'll see, for now though it's popcorn.
Fairly sure his dealers had a good weekend at any rate. Must have got a Roundthebend subscription for Christmas. Is there any correlation between football skill and quality of punditry anyway? Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne were both fantastic footballers, much better than Barton, but have they got anything interesting to say about football?
As I said above, try the Naomi Schiff thread on the F1 section of Pistonheads, 99% of posters simply mocking her dress sense, driving skill, lack of world championships. They all seem to think you need to be a ex world champion to comment on the sport and it's nothing to do with her sex or skin colour (apparently).
Don't know about his brother but he's been in jail too.
There's probably a few more since this.

His wiki is quite the read. Many suspended sentences and contract terminations. There's probably a few more since this.

A man in the industry tells me its a deliberate ploy to be ‘cancelled’ to build profile/angle for podcasts and future work.
Stuff a few weeks ago didnt quite get traction, so bigger and better.
Its not accidental, its PR.
I've long thought this was his endgame. Stuff a few weeks ago didnt quite get traction, so bigger and better.

Life was so much simpler when northern footballers just retired to run the proverbial pub on the Wirral after they'd finished in the game.
In Barton's case that would be on of the flat-roofed variety with regular outbreaks of violence.
He's a plank who thinks he's an intellectual because he once read a few Nietzsche quotes and listened to Morrissey a couple of times.
He'll never work in football or mainstream TV again and his stty little Podcast will continue to get such low numbers to remain irrelevant to most normal sane adults.

Bartons response is she's deliberately "playing the victim card" Byker28i said:
I have no doubt there is an element of that, especially as messages have surfaced where she DM'd Paddy Kenny to tell him he was rubbish pundit lol. There is a difference between privately messaging someone, and get a large chunk of his 3m followers on twitter to give her st. Its the same for Jeremy Vine and any female pundit commentators. He retweets alot of his messages, so people take great pride in tagging him in tweets slagging of women incase he tweets them.

Jeremy Vine is a humongous POS as well.
He certainly likes using his own social media clout to try and get people fired when they have the temerity to drive within a 500m radius. It’s quite ironic that Barton has previously highlighted the need to promote mental health topics
