Anyone on here follows non league football?
Discussion
My passion for non-league football over recent years has grown at about the same pace as my disillusionment with Arsenal.
I follow my local non-league club Oasby Town in step 5 of the pyramid and this year I've also started to attend random non-league games all over the midlands and the South East. I've rediscovered my passion for attending live football as a result. There are some fabulous clubs out there and some great people.
I urge people to go out and watch their local non-league side. Good football, cheap admission, beer at the side of the pitch and great banter.

Finally decided to take in a live game for this season, so went to watch AFC Fylde. Surroundings are not to bad
Crowd of 2800 (600 from FC United of Manchester).
A 3-1 win for Fylde now puts them 9pts clear at the top of National League North. The score flattered Fylde to be honest, they were the better team in the first half but 2nd best in the 2nd half. A draw would probably have been a fair result.
It was nice afternoon out, lunch in a local pub, then a walk to the ground, beer on the terrace. We could have gone straight to the ground and probably got in Bradleys Bar under the main stand for food and beer, but decided to go local. There was a big queue to get into the bar when we did finally get to the ground so gave it a miss.

And the referees are brilliant too I wish more people got out and supported their local team, on some of the games I do there are less than 100 people in the crowd and some of the teams can't afford to run the floodlights until 30mins before kick off.

With regards officials there are some very good ones coming through in my area. One of my friends comes to watch our local side a few times a season and is a Premiership ref and through non-league football has become a good mate. I'm not going to be name dropping him though.

I'll be supporting a NL team soon (Notts County). In the meantime me and the boy try and go to as many Ramsbottom United home games as we can, it's quite good entertainment for £9. It's worth it for the pie and peas Alone.
Ramsbottom is a club I'm keen to visit but not yet made it there. Trafford FC for me, I totally agree that we should all take time to support our local clubs. Football like it used to be played and it's such a pleasure to watch a match whilst drinking a beer.
I don't get there as often as I would like but it's always a pleasure when I do. Regardless of the result.

Possil YM for me. Amateurs.
Used to follow Rangers home, away and Europe. Supported them for 50+ years.
Won't be going back again, ever.
Can't believe how much more I enjoy live amateur. Like regaining 'the lurrve'.
(in a cup final this Friday 13th at Lesser Hampden )

Perks of having a multi-millionaire as the owner, who is prepared to spend his money. The main stand is basically the same as the one at the other local, former non-league team on the Fylde coast, Fleetwood Town. Both designed by the same architects. http://www.fwpgroup.co.uk/job/mill-farm-sports-vil...
Site also includes a warehouse, Aldi Supermarket, Petrol station (currently being built), plot for a hotel, and there should also be some 3G football and hockey pitches when complete.

Became totally disillusioned with the PL I've a Hartlepool season ticket for the past few years and they've been close to non-league in the last few years, too close at times (14/15s Great Escape by Ronnie Moore was particularly special!)
I've seen a few ex-prem players over the years that have turned out for Pools; Nobby Solano, Marlon Harewood, Alan Thompson and also some that rock up for the away team. Trying to identify a player you've heard of is a good game... Alan Smith (ex England and Man U)
When Hartlepool are away I go and see my hometown team South Shields FC who have recently had somewhat of a renaissance since being bought by a wealthy business owner. They've now got an impressive club house and bar, a new stand, 3G training pitches and can boast a plethora of ex pros in the way of Julio Arca (ex Sunderland), Jon Shaw (ex Gateshead), Ben Clark (ex Sunderland, Gateshead and Hartlepool but sadly retired prematurely through injury) but more famously for the Budweiser Dream Goal 2016 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iggZjgpfs8) by Wazza who's now been released (wtf!?)
I've more stories and anecdotes from going to four years of Pools and Shields matches than I have of maybe twelve years of the PL. Seeing 2,500 people at the North/South Shields derby this season was amazing for a non-league club who only three seasons ago were playing their home games 20 miles away in front of 40 people.
NL has a certain romance that some people just can't understand, but I absolutely love it.

Non-league football problems: went down to watch Rammy United v Hyde FC on Tuesday night, got down there, lad had a pie, I had a bovril, waited for 45 minutes in darkness then the match was called off as the flood light generator had packed up! Had a few complaints from the away supporters but generally the attitude was hey, ho, st happens, get a refund and go home.
A lad at work adores Trafford
It made me laugh with the earlier post.
My son and his mates (15) go to Stockport county every home game
They get the bus go to the chippy enjoy the game and all on the bus home,
I can quite easily see that they'll end up goin for a pint match pint curry in a few years
It's great he loves it,
They are just on the cusp of trying away matches.
We still go to mu probably once a season,

A mate and I have started going to Thatcham Town FC. They play in the Southern League division one south.
It's a good afternoon out. £9 entry, sit or stand where you like, clubhouse has a bar with proper pints. Lady sells burgers, chips, tea, etc out of a hatch pitchside.
The P.A. system has feedback and distortion, there's a cement mixer near the dugout, and the ball goes out of the ground into the trees about 5 times a game. Great stuff.
I can cycle there in 20 minutes and it's right next to the station if need be.
They're second in the league but were robbed of a draw against Salisbury in the F.A. Cup at the weekend.

how have I missed a non-league thread
i'm 2 years into hopping around grounds now (might go see Baffin's vs Cowes tonight) it's such a different experiance than watching Saints (which I enjoy) or even Eastleigh (it's a proper ground nowerdays) i've only done 17 grounds, not that many but I do enjoy going back to some a few times, especially if there's a fun drive there and back
does anyone use Groundhopper app to find local games?
