Discussion
I've heard a grown man in a tv studio, after a goal has been scored where the flight of the ball deceived the keeper, say "the ball picked up speed in mid air." And other grown men nod in agreement.
Just how the laws of physics have been circumvented to allow for this amazing phenomena hasn't been explained by said pundits.

Score a goal in the first 5 mins. It's described as "early doors". Wtf is early doors??
Also get managers (typically Redknapp) saying we must not concede a goal early doors. It makes no sense you tard

Fans that say "we" when referring to the team they support, you may give them money, wear their clothes, have deep feelings for the gentlemen on the team and shout at them etc but you aren't on the team, you just like looking at them and talking about what they do endlessly.
Think you've just missed the point, really. It's much quicker and easier than saying the full name. Especially given you'd need to repeat the name many times in any given conversation. Additionally, in public many people would prefer not to openly discuss their allegiance in a way that could invite comments from the more nefarious amongst us. Finally, continually repeating the team name would sound a little odd, in the same way that repeating any noun can make a sentence seem poorly structured and more than a little verbose.iphonedyou said:

how about 'they'?
'They' falls at the first hurdle, because when I'm talking to a mate who supports Chelsea, and I support Manchester United, my meaning is indecipherable without additional clarification. Which is avoided altogether by just using 'we'. The problem is further confounded when watching a match with many friends who support different teams.I'm not particularly a grammar pedant, but I thought I'd explain why 'we' is used - it's not really to promote allegiance. At least, not all the time
