Just about to head off to our FA Cup game against West Ham. We played them last August at home and lost 3-1. They put out a full-strength side then, and expect the same again tonight. And I expect the result to be similar (even though we had a player sent off after 20-odd minutes by that dirty cheat Hernandez).

Live on BT Sport, so at least we get a few quid for the game.

Good luck and enjoy yourself.

Wycombe were the lowdown dirty cheating terrorist sympathisers I expected today. We were pretty toothless. Not sure what's worse.

That’s Wycombe for you, although if you stay up - which unfortunately is looking increasingly likely - you’ll get the same and more in spades from Lincoln. They manage to out-Wycombe Wycombe by some margin. Wouldn’t surprise me to see 20 minutes stoppage time when those two play each other next season.

It's always been the same with Wycombe, but I can't recall a game against Lincoln for some years. I guess skulduggery is a substitute for footballing talent.

We lost 2-0 at home to Lincoln City last Tuesday night. I have seen worse teams at Huish Park this season.... Yeovil being most of them!! hehe

Very clever at what they do. Every goal kick from the hand, they stand Akinde or Rhead if he's on by the keeper, just far enough away that the ref can't make him move away, but close enough that it affects the keeper's kicking. They got right in the head of our young loan keeper and he was fluffing his kicks most of the time.

Very well organised though and I'm not looking past them to find the champions.

I doubt many watched our game last night, but what a night bounce

West Ham were very very poor. As I just posted on the WH thread .......

You guys were pretty poor last night. You kept possession but did nothing with it. Just continually passing it around the half-way line; absolutely no attempt to attack, or get it in the box.

The last time we played each other back in August, in the league cup, we had a player sent off after 18 minutes, by that cheat Hernamdez (hence all the booing when he had the ball last night). Although in fairness to him this time around he was not calling for a card every time he was tackled (unlike the last game). And in that one we went 1-0 up!

The impression I got is that in the 1st half you guys were treating it like a training fixture, and I expected in the 2nd half you'd 'turn it up to 10' and totally wipe us out, even after our 3rd goal in the 1st minute. But nothing changed. No urgency to get forward and attack.

We have no tall defenders so would have been unable to handle Carrol, but you did not take advantage of that at all.

Your tickets were selling last night for £100 and folks were paying that price yikes
Doncaster at home please, in the draw tomorrow night biggrin

Luton fan popping in to agree about both Wycombe and Lincoln. Two of the most unfootballing sides I’ve ever seen (followed at distance by Stevenage). Lincoln were in particular terrible when we played them last season-Rhead’s sole purpose seemed to be to merely chuck his weight about and piss people off (which he did quite well). Managed to get our captain sent off after about fifteen minutes then was subbed shortly after half time when he was about to get his own marching orders.

Really hope the rumours about us going in for Lincoln’s manager aren’t true as I couldn’t imagine paying to watch that every week!

Ainsworth at Wycombe I have a sort of admiration for as he seems to work well with what he’s got, despite the negative tactics. He’s also fiercely loyal to his players-which in turn seems to get them playing out of their skins for him.

While I’m here-fair play to Wimbledon for a cracking cup victory.

Yep, me too. among all the hand wringing about my own team, completely forgot to congratulate the Wombles on a great clean up operation on the Hammers... clapclap

After the brief hope of two successive wins, back to reality (and normality) last night as Lincoln City gubbed us 2-0.

Don't be fooled by the score, they were six goals better than us but preferred to play with us like a cat with a mouse rather than go for it and run up a cricket score. Rumour has it that the takeover is imminent now, so hopefully the current owners can ride off into the sun, take the clueless manager with them and we can start rebuilding our once proud club again.
Local respected journo reporting that the US takeover of the club might be completed by the end of the week! eekeek

Hopefully, he's right. Just typical that the flipping transfer window closes before then and we may not make the most of the potential extra funding. Brought in a mate of mine's son, Ryan Seager today from Southampton; wasn't a success in a loan spell last season but maybe the boost of a permanent contract plus the possibility of the manager taking a hike will prove to be just the filip he needs.

So has anyone made any [interesting] signings today?

We've signed two today:
Michael Folivi, Watford striker on loan for the rest of the season
Shane McLoughlin, full-back from Ipswich, on a free transfer.

From what I've been hearing, Folivi has played 15 times only scoring 1 goal, but by all accounts McLoughlin is really pacey!

That makes 5 for the month, joining Dylan Connolly (Dundalk) and 2 loanees Aaron Ramsdale (goalkeeper from Bournemouth) and Steve Seddon (left-back from Birmingham).

I saw Connolly at his first start for us (FA cup vs West Ham) and OMG, he's bloody AWESOME. The pace of him is just unreal. And best of all he's Irish (nahh, I'm not biased) smile

I also have to mention our new keeper Ramsdale, he made some amazing saves to help us win that West Ham game. Again, awesome stuff!. So the future might bode well. However, I honestly can't see us getting out of the relegation battle.

I’m quite surprised you’re down there being honest. From memory you’re not a bad side compared to some we’ve seen!

We let a lot of our solid/quality players go last season, and did not replace with similar.

We've made what appears to be some great signings this month; but it's too late now. We're 9 points off safety; but not to say it can't be done. If we play like we did against West Ham, then yeah, I'd be really positive. But more realistic at the moment.

The one good thing is that financially (and related to our move back home to Plough Lane) we never factored in being in League 1, so financially we'd not be worse off. Which is the most important thing (IMHO anyway)..

Colchester seem to have signed 3.

A Ben Stevenson from Wolves ,has previously been on loan in Essex.

A 21yo loaner from Newcastle ,apparently he's been on their books since the age of 8.

and another fella I've never heard of.

Peterborough fan here. Yes, you can all laugh!
Crazy state of affairs at my club. Manager who took us to 6th sacked after a total overhaul of playing staff. Previous manager appointed for his third stint in charge.
I suspect our chairman might be trying to create some sort of real life footballing film script....

Personally? I don't, at all.

And I'm not alone in that. We all keep joking about running a fund-raiser, to get enough to pay off his loan fees and hand him back to Luton!

As I said, the ones that really excites me are Connolly, and Ramsdale (only on loan sadly).

I think Stevenage signed 5 in the end. Though few signings have been any good so far, so we'll see.

Also loaned out one of the very few exciting on their day players, and I think our top scorer, to Newport, Ben Kennedy. He never quite has looked as good as we expected after looking superb when he first emerged, whether that is his attitude or the woeful football played under the current manager, I don't know.
