The League 1 and 2 Thread

Accrington Stanley not expecting to sign any players until end of September with the exception of loans,
Money is really tight for the league 1 team with the lowest budget.
Of a different source, I was told they not expecting to end Furlough of existing players until 17th August, giving them just a 4 week long pre season.

I'm not surprised that smaller clubs have found the last few months really hard.Money is really tight for the league 1 team with the lowest budget.

My team (Yeovil) gave up the leases on the houses they rent from estate agents; the ones the players live in three or four to a house, because they couldn't afford the rent during lockdown. It was then decided that the National League would end with playoffs which we had qualified for so for the final three weeks, the players have been living in the hospitality boxes at the club.

Got to feel for Yeovil, still don’t know how they lost vs Barnet. Far superior team to Barnet, hopefully you can have another good go at promotion next season.

Good luck to Accy too, great club. Would love Andy Holt as our owner/chairman. I'm interviewing 'Bumble' soon for a book, he seems to be a decent, genuine fan going by Twitter.

Good news for you Ant. That'll relieve the pressure financially for this season and probably next too.
Definitely. Usually these windfalls are split three ways: infrastructure, playing squad and academy, so it'd be nice to try and get a striker this window, we look desperately short of goals. Was one of the lucky few inside St James Park last night to watch Exeter v Forest Green. Blimey, there were some young faces on display there..... :
City were going into half time a goal down but got a slightly fortunate goal when Jay's shot hit Ajose and went in. Although FGR scored early in the second half, City roared back in prompted by Jay's scheming in midfield and the impressive Josh Key's raiding runs from the right flank. Soon went 3-2 up and Jay even missed a pen to make the game safe.
Key really looked good as did Jay. Think City might make the playoffs again but will need a striker as I'm not sure Bowman/Ajose will score enough goals.

Anyone else totally under whelmed by football at the moment ?
I really couldn't give a toss about the start of the season, the games just come across to me as pre-season kickabouts, it's just not 'proper football'.
What irks me is the media giving it all the 'football is back' hype, it's not, it's a pale imitation of what it was before.
Football without fans is nothing as they say.
