The League 1 and 2 Thread

Mental isn't it? I was watching (vpn) and my son and I went mental when we went 4-2 up......there were various soft furnishings moving at speed across the room at 4-4.
Just some really poor decisions on game management, emotions got to us and defensively, we are getting hit at the back post, seems to be a flaw that's being targeted.
Still best attack in the league and still generally not conceeding chances and still second.
...that was tough to take though...total freak result.

First 20 mins, Argyle 240 passes, City 90. Had them running all over the park. No wonder half way through the second half City were looking leggy.
Mumba, what a player, what a strike!
Rough few games coming up for City now. Think they might hold on to top half come May. Argyle look unstoppable and have more than a whiff of 2003/4 about them.

Shut up you bell.
How did it look on telly?I think my only concern would be how pleased everyone seems to be about their ability to come back from games in which they’re behind, as apparently they’ve managed this a number of times this season. Were I the manager I might be thinking about looking to address going behind in the first place so often.
I’ll be happy with a top half finish, not sure we’ve got it to be any higher than that this season.

Pretty good actually. Despite the filthy weather both teams put on a good show. Disappointed with the scoreline - I thought us worth a point - but can’t fault the performance. Best Plymouth team I’ve seen in many a year,

The old adage, 'a good team can play badly and win' only stretches so far doesn't it?I think my only concern would be how pleased everyone seems to be about their ability to come back from games in which they’re behind, as apparently they’ve managed this a number of times this season. As an aside, we had six Academy graduates in the starting line up last night with another four on the bench. At Derby last week we started with seven and could have fielded an entire 11 from the Academy. I think both this season and last we've never fielded less than five from the off. Goodness knows how we'd ever compete if we didn't have that.
It's a well known fact that Exeter has a fantastic academy.
Without that, and the revenue it's brought over the years, Exeter would be where Torquay are, at best. And that is not a good place to be for South West football.
Not sure I agree with the 'come from behind' analysis. I think it is more 'hold our own' and let them wear themselves out. Which was evident in the game. Because there is no way that Argyle are super fit compared to City. Argyle are just brilliant at passes completed. Which ensures the opposition have to run more.

I watched Bristol Rovers v Argyle a couple of weeks ago and it was a fantastic match. Argyle went two up with absolute crackers from Finn Azaz and Adam Randell but Rovers replied in the second half with two goals of their own. Both sides played some great football in a cracking atmosphere; as a neutral, it was the best game I'd seen for quite a while.
Mumba looks a player, I have to say. Joe Edwards had a quieter game but he'll always be a YTFC legend to me after he was part of the team that beat Brentford in the League One playoff final in 2013.
To even things up, great to say Jay Stansfield get his chance and do well. Will always be pressure on him of course but hopefully he'll shrug it off and carve out a great career for himself.

Hmm, it's a dangerous game to play though, because (and granted, you're not top for nothing) sooner or later you'll come up against someone who won't tire so easily. As I said, were I a Plymouth fan it's the only thing that would concern me because there's not much else to fault anywhere else (sadly!).Without that, and the revenue it's brought over the years, Exeter would be where Torquay are, at best. Plymouth look the real deal to be honest, I thought Exeter were decent enough the other night, they'll be fine this season.
Of all the teams in the league, I'd prefer Plymouth to go up, they play football in the right way (as do Ipswich in my opinion) and it's a joy to watch.
It's not a flash in the pan and there's some good players there, you don't get to 41 points after 17 games without being a decent team and well organised.
On my own team's fortunes....I think we're ticking along nicely, certainly don't look like we'll concede 4 too many times but we are a little wasteful up top.
It's good to watch, more shots than anyone else in the league, scoring from set pieces (we didn't last season!) top for XG (I know stats don't show whole picture) top for XG against and faced 25 fewer shots than the nearest....
I know we're not top, but we do at least look consistent and i'm at least hoping for a trip to the capital in May if we don't get a top 2 spot.
Sheffield Wednesday do look like they can grind out results though and Bannan is different class.
Long way to go of course.

Best get the excuses ready,
We were lucky to scrape a draw, against a part-time, non-league, one win all season, team Best get the excuses ready,
Rumours have it that they only kept it to 1-1 to give us a replay at home, as we're financially worse off than them, and plus they’ve got a better squad as well. I think that’s a really nice gesture
Well done to the :
Postman
Lorry driver
Plumber
Electrician
Administration assistant
Policeman
Traffic warden
You get a replay at the best ground in league 2.
