Still 7th; after playing the worst I've seen in quite a while and losing 2-0 (and at home).

Although they (Newport) really did continue to mug the ref. He was pretty poor sadly, with many very puzzling decisions.

Getting back to on pitch matters: a brilliant result for Pompey today at Peterborough. We had THIRTEEN players unavailable today through illness or injury, including our entire first choice back four. That, against the highest scorers in the division, and we got a clean sheet. Blimey, it suddenly seems real. Gulp.
We got smash'n'grabbed in the critical game against Derby yesterday, need you to do us a favour against them and then roll over against us, title's your's anyway

Cheers Speed3, I heard that Bolton were the better side today against Derby. On the EFL highlights show Ian Evatt referred to fine margins and I think he's right. It would be good to get a win over Derby; if you have Sky Sports you can see for yourself because they've moved the game to Tuesday April 2nd at 8 pm.

Complete change of game plan and formation today,

We had about 30% of the possession, & I think our strikers touched the ball about two times the whole match,

Sorry RammyMP, That was a fking great big Self Destruct button your boys hit today whistle

INBOUND!

Plymouth Argyle.

Never ever should be the case, but you employ an unknown quantity as a manager when you are happy in mid table obscurity and see what happens.

Looking precarious isn’t it? What are your thoughts?

Foster was a gamble. It didn't work. The board should have realised that some time ago. Lose on Monday to Brizzle and he HAS to go. Whether we stay up or not is beyond his control now, so it'll make no difference.

We were a comfortable mid table obscurity team when he took over, just what you want in your first season in the Championship. Now look. Iffy as.

Was at City today and as they have all season, they look better against the football playing sides that do well. They've beaten Southampton and Leicester at home recently; Manning wants to be a controlling footballing side but they get their best results when they have less possession.

If it turns into a dour dogfight, you may get something from the game.

Too little too late? What’s the word on the street in Jannerland?

Only been following Twitter. Seems they are nit happy that Neil Dewsnip is taking control with Kevin Nancekivel. Nance they are happy with, nit so much Dewsnip.

Could go either way. Generally the Janners are of the opinion it should have happened weeks ago and it won't make any difference now.

However, if we can persuade our men up front to shoot at goal and score a few, we might be ok.

I think it’s too close to call. They only need a couple of results to go their way and it’s job done, but given the current run you can only see one outcome. Naturally I’d be over the moon if the seemingly inevitable does happen, but I have to ask how did Plymouth get into this position in the first place - L1 champions to near certain Championship relegation candidates inside 12 months. I would have assumed after going up as champions, this season would be one of mid table obscurity as you find your feet in a massive division, not this.

Thankfully it appears Caldwell as completely turned us around and we’ve gone from no wins and four goals scored in 100 days to about 99% safe with five games to go, and we’ve got a very good chance of actually beating last season’s points total and league position.

Football really is bonkers.

Don't disagree with you.

They gambled on an unproven manager. Huge mistake at Championship level. They have since not asked Warnock to help. I would have thought that was a no brainer. Smallest budget in the league hasn't helped either.

I actually see us staying up. Then the summer will be interesting.

Didn't quite go to plan. Hope your promotion isn't timed with a win at ours now.

Entertaining match for a neutral last night. What a screamer for 2-2!

Has Mr Pompey been allowed back into Fratton yet, or is it a lifetime ban? Didn't hear that effing bell last night at all.

Interesting game at Fratton Park last night, not least because the conditions were atrocious with a swirling wind and a barely playable pitch. Normally, the playing surface at FP is excellent and we found it hard to get going, resulting in far too many pointless passes across the back four. Still, there were three excellent goals (plus a lucky one in their second) and overall a good advert for League 1 football I thought.

Great support for both teams too. I think we (Pompey) will get automatic promotion despite probable defeat at The Toughsheet on the 13th.

Let's be honest: Derby, Bolton and Pompey should all be at a higher level than League 1 and if you guys don't get automatic promotion I think you'll win the play offs. Beware Lincoln though, they are on a hot streak just now and would be tough opponents.

John Westwood was there the other night against Burton; IIRC his ban was four games with a "behave yourself in future" warning. But yes I didn't hear him last night, although his seat is right up in the Fratton End and I'm at the other end.

I've met John a couple of times; when he's sober he's a gentle and charming man. But when drunk, which he often is at football, he's very different and frankly rather embarrassing. And that flippin' bell that he rings is really annoying, especially when we're playing badly at somewhere awful like Bristol Rovers and all you can hear is di-ding di-ding di-ding.......aaaargh!

Totally off topic, but he owns a book shop doesn't he? Second hand books.

I understand he's nobody's fool, but agree, when he's on the turps he's a nightmare - for everyone.

That’s my big fear, going out in the semi’s. At Wembley I think we’d beat any of them, it suits our style per the pizza trophy demolition of Plymouth last year.

He does, it's in Petersfield, which is a rather posh town a few miles north of Portsmouth. I think John inherited the shop from his father. When he's there, you see the Doctor Jekyll side of him, but there's a Mr. Hyde side too, of course.

The above hits it on the head persactly.....A city the size of Ply, AND the surrounding population AND the new ground should have a Premier league/top of the Championship team, not drag assing at the bottom. When I look at teams up north its a bloody disgrace. Get some Arabs or rich septics to buy the bloody team.
