To put a positive spin on things, given that at the start of the window the chances of getting Lukaku was nil, we have retained the key players in the spine of the team (Foster, McAuley, Yacob, Mlumbu), we've offloaded Odemwingie for a couple of million, and we've added 2 defenders, a midfielder, 2 wingers, and 3 forwards, plus temporary cover in goal while Foster's out.
Not saying I'm the happiest fan on the planet at the moment, far from it, but there is a small glimmer of hope!

There are some positives to be taken from this window, for sure but I'm also dubious about some other points. The signing of Sinclair was brilliant and hopefully we can get him permanently. A huge improvement over the departed Thomas (who I always liked).
Sessegnon should be a great buy. I've always liked him as a player and I think he has a lot to offer but we need to make him consistent.
Vydra. Well, I'm dubious so far as he has shown very little. Granted his barely had any time on the pitch so I'm keeping an open mind and hoping we'll see the best from him.
Anelka showed great promise during pre-season and I'm still hoping that it was a genius signing, but again I'm dubious after not having a sniff at goal in two games.
Anichebe. Jesus, this player could go either way. He's a tank and he's quick which sounds great on paper and I'm secretly praying he'll be another Lukaku with his power and pace, but he scores about 1 in 6 over his career so far. Maybe he'll get the run of games he needs to score consistently but I doubt it as Clarke like to rotate the squad. Even if he bags a few, I think we've over paid by 50% for him.
I don't know anything about the bloke from PSG or Marsielle but I'm not entirely sure what Lugano brings to the squad. I'd much rather have kept Tamas and Dawson as cover rather than telling Tamas (who has been the model, committed professional) he can leave. Surely now his commitment will dwindle.
Lee Camp as a singing is a waste of time IMO. Put Myhill in goal and keep Daniels as cover. Pointless business. Cesar on the other hand would have been great.
Now the stuff that has me annoyed at Clarke and Peace;
Not spending on the loan fee that would have seen Lukaku back in an Albion shirt. If Everton can afford it, we can afford it. Rom even said if he had to go out on loan, it'll only be to West Brom. He loves the club, we love him at the club. He'll guarentee goals unlike our other strikers.
It's all come down to money again and I'm pissed off that we've missed out because of it, especially when we've over-spent so much on Anichebe.
Finally, the worst thing we could have done was tell Shane Long he could leave, put him through all that faff and a medical, then withdraw him from the (drastically under-valued) deal. We've messed him around and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he won't take it lying down when he's told he'll be on the bench, or when he's played out of position. He is (was) one of our, if not our most committed player who offers so much more to the team than just goals. Winning balls, retrieving, hasseling and winning free kicks and penalties. Now we've probably pissed him off. I really don't want him to be driven away by last night.
It's going to take a few good victories on the bounce and goals from Anichebe to cheer me up about some of our recent dealings.
An unhappy Baggie.

Give Cheebs a chance. Potentially a superb player given a run of games. He often came off the bench for us, and when he had a run, he was often one of our best players.
He'll have the backing from the Albion fans from the word go. We're a loyal bunch but for some of us, he'll have to bang them in to be a good investment and worth the potential disruption to Long.I think this is great news personally and I'd love to see him given a start in the league to see what he can do at this level;
