So Brighton's game against old foe's Crystal Palace has been moved to Sunday 17th of March at midday (ST PATRICKS day) for "safety" reasons as they have a long history for after match rucking in the past, so 1,000's of fans will pour out of the stadium at 2pm into the town bars,..so hundreds of police on sunday overtime will need to be in the town all afternoon-evening instead of having a midweek evening match-where every gets out at 9.30 and has to be up for work the next day..rant over but what stupidity..

Presumably it's actually the Police, and not the FA who have moved this. The Police have the power to move kick-off times and the FA/Football League have no power to block the moves.

One day the gravy train of football policing will be challenged. Literally hundreds of them at some games, with football violence all but dead, it's overtime galore for the boys.

You think football violence is dead? Really? (Genuine question...)

"all but dead" a bit of pavement dancing happens a few times a season, however I could go to United v Norwich tomorrow and there will be hundreds of police there and even if they werent there would be zero chance of any hooliganism taking place, football policing is a total gravy train.

Dont be fooled by the arrest statistics as they are a total joke, especially WMP who randomnly arrest people for trying to enter a ground having drunk alcohol to justify their overtime.

If I get a minute I will put up the police report for Norwich v United this year, where the police used a mass of resources and tried to twist any incident to justify their numbers. End result absolutely no trouble as usual, cost to the tax payer many thousands of pounds.

Nothing to do with the tax payer. The clubs foot the bill for policing in & around the grounds.

"The so-called 'Wigan ruling' means forces are only able to charge for the 'footprint' - the area inside the ground and some surrounding streets.

But as crowd control has improved, police say the trouble has moved from football stadia to other parts of cities such as transport hubs. They are unable to charge clubs for that policing."

So for example when we play Liverpool and hundreds of extra police are on their overtime jolly doing needless escorts etc the taxpayer picks up the tab.

For my local derby of Blackburn vs Burnley all the away fans have to arrive by coach. Which leaves Burnley at about 10.00. For a 12.00 kick off. A journey of oh....10 miles. Great news if you happen to live in Blackburn and support Burnley.

I understand Hull have to do the same thing for their game against Leeds

Stupid.

Not sure how you joined up the dots to end up in that logical cul de sac, since the needless part is in fact needed! & you're absolutely wrong about the trouble evaporating. I've turned down a free ticket to the Palace game since as a neutral, I don't need the aggravation. I would have to pass through the station & it will go off there & has done a good few times in recent years. No thanks.

Your posting history suggests a long held grudge against the Police. Presumably priors then Digi?

No priors at all, I just dont agree with the heavy handed and over the top policing at football. For example I dont know who Stockport were playing on Saturday but I was driving near their ground about an hour before kick off and there were police everywhere, both on foot and driving in vans etc was that really needed?

Except some kid is challenging the police through his solicitor.
