Fulham boss Felix Magath said: "That was the worst performance but the good thing about today is that it is clear we have to change something.

This comment after Derby F.C. handed a 5-1 thrashing to Fulham , the man has chutzpah, granted.

So one of those got on the pitch then...........

Feels good to win at last. Corner turned? Or business as usual against Cardiff?
I share that feeling of relief with you .

Am I being a pessimist or realist if I say it appears to be a question of survival now for us in this league. All thoughts of promotion surely are a just a pipe dream considering the results thus far . Looking ahead to the Cardiff game I would suggest that another loss would result in action from the owner.

Magath had his chance , clearly the guy is moonstruck.

Kit Symons is a good choice for the interim , knows the club inside out and played at all levels , let's hope he can plug up one of the poorest defenses we've had .

Meanwhile , can anyone throw any light on the B. Ruiz situation as I'm overseas based and don't get the information as easily as you guys living in the UK .

Thanks for the information silver, I've just seen a news clip with Kit training the squad , among the squad is Ruiz .

Moyes in the mix huh ? , admired him at Everton because he talked sense but the facts remain that whoever takes the reigns has a very difficult task ahead ( excuse me for stating the bleeding obvious ) and I'm not convinced the assembled squad are good enough to compete and become a winning team , I sincerely hope I'm completely wrong with all my heart.

I can't be the only one thinking it would be unwise to remove Kit Symons from his current position. In a short space of time he has re- invented , re-energised and inspired the squad to a different level. Probably only temporary but now up to 19 th after beating Charlton but very rewarding seeing us away from the anchor spot in the division.

I've held fire writing this but it's plainly obvious that certain members of the defensive squad are well below the standard required , in short Dan Burn is next to useless . Any attacker with pace and/or maneuverability can turn him inside out .

His shortcomings aside , he is not the only one , the defence as a unit is probably the poorest in the division ,this represents a huge challenge for the present management as they need wholesale changes to be a force .
I'm sure The manager is aware of this , by my reckoning at least five quality defenders are needed .

Hmmm, Alladyce , Symons and Bruce in the starting eleven could be the way forward, shore up a creaky defence a shade. !

I've not seen the latest game yet but I've watched all the previous games via the Fulham app. I've commented before on the defense , my concern was that Burn is easily turned and lacks the fundamental skill to be a good defender . It's now clear to me that the defense as a complete unit lacks co-ordination , understanding and determination. In short they're feckin useless!
How much of this is down to the manager remains to be seen , I like Symons in general , however my judgement doesn't count an iota .
What's to be done ? Would another manager make any difference ?

I'll use an old Suffolk quote I heard many times from Dennis , a keen sportsman was Dennis , he used to say when witnessing me play cricket ...." you can't put it where it hint "

Proof , if proof were needed.
The entire shambles that masquerades as a defence resembles the school team ( Collingwood , Wallington , Surrey ) I played for when I was ten in 1958 .How many more times must we concede 5 goals before the penny drops ?
K.S. Is obviously aware of the deficiency but what must he do ?

Answers on a postcard to Tommy Trinder , you lucky people !!!

The only good thing I can say is that it would appear that you've got enough of a points difference to not get drawn into the relegation slots. But it's not good after a promising start when he became manager.
I'm not so confident , I would say we're sitting ducks. It was indeed a promising start but the inconsistency that followed was indicative of the path followed since.

I've not seen any of the game against Bournemouth yet as I have to wait until the Fulham app loads the two minute highlights or if I can stomach it, the full 90 minutes , so I'll keep schtum for now.

Probably say something along the lines of "the performances are there, but the results aren't coming". Not sure what games he watches, but that's five times we've conceded five this season.
What can he say, you cannot defend the indefensible. They all as managers have to say something , we as critics, supporters or admirers then discuss the team , the players , the results, the progress or lack of it.
I agree , the quote you've highlighted is pretty dismal .

My father, many years ago , when hearing an advert which included , " the more you spend , you more you save " shook his head in disbelief. I think the K. S. quote would have the same effect on him . I know it has on me .

I'm in danger of sounding like a broken record stuck in the same groove . The defending is simply woeful , no matter which combination is used . Turner looks to be the only one who can defend in the given sense of the word.

I agree it was a good away point but I've not seen the recorded match yet, it's not available until Thursday here.

What's to be done ? A new coach ? Some proper defenders ?

I started going to Fulham when I was nine ( 1957 ! ) I love seeing the Cottage now , it's not changed apart from the seating I guess.
It's still a great place to go I reckon and I hope your lad continues to support through these times and gets to see us return to the top flight .

Don't fret silver, it's all in hand as Scot Parker observed :

“I think sometimes during this year defensively – and that’s all of us, not just defenders – we’ve struggled a little bit at times. So we need to carry the Charlton performance into Friday.”

I admit to feeling a little uncomfortable just now, feeble efforts against two fellow strugglers and no gaurentee of a result against Blackpool to come. Norwich are due a result against us, chasing promotion and at home , Middlesboro are in the play off places ....and as for us , sitting ducks with no feathers !

K.S. seems an ok sort of guy, from what I've seen no amount off coaching can transform the clueless crop of crap otherwise referred to as defenders into anything resembling footballers, bad decision making , lacking skill or ideas , what a shower !
Are they coached to fall back and not press allowing the opposition to gain huge areas of space and dictate the pace ?
Or do they forget their given instructions ?

We'll be fine , the players are fitter than the opposition and apart from a bizarre decision from the official to award a free kick when no one offended we would have erm , not lost ....maybe we would have won because :

“Not disappointed with the actual performance because there was a lot of good play out there. We could have been a bit more clinical with some of our play in the final third but we had good invention and good creativity, it just didn’t quite come off for us."

Opposition was Eintracht Frankfurt , famous for losing against Real Madrid ( Puskas , DeStafano etc etc ) in 1960 .
Real Madrid won 7 -3 , I remember watching it !!!! Or maybe it was Pathe News at Tooting Granda , fantastic.!

Tooting and Mitcham held to 2-2 by a rampant Fulham under 21 side.

Paddy Hasty would have netted a few I'll wager . wink

I didn't much care for Dembele's attitude to McCormack after the latter got tanglefoot and missed a solid chance .
