I've just finished watching the home game against Ipswich ,soon be running short of nouns to describe the debacle that is Fulham FC. At this rate we won't be playing Chelsea next season .

Rotten moderaters , killing your thread Silver !

It's usual for the incoming manager/coach to bring a few of his former clubs players , I'll settle for J.Terry , A.Cole, F.Lampard , I doubt we can afford E.Hazard just yet .
Anyone else ?

The contributors to this forum in particular probably have a biased view of the late Jimmy Hill , I know I have . Firstly he was a south London born and bred boy . I was born in Colliers Wood ( adjacent to Wimbledon ) but worked in Balham in a street market for over 35 years.
I watched him play at the Cottage in the late fifties alongside the other familiar names we all know.

There used to be a specialist Renault 5 Turbo dealership in Wimbledon owned by his two sons , I bought a red one for my then long term girlfriend . That was many years ago .

Sad loss .

Frankly, at least a stand ought to be named after Jimmy Hill.

Met him once, lovely fellow in person.

RIP
Aye, he was a brammer for sure . Most of us sarf Londoners are lovely chaps too ! wink

Seriously , "The Jimmy Hill End " or "The Jimmy Hill Stand " does have merit .

Can the new head coach make anything of this present group of players? With a transfer embargo in place and a perilous position in the league to consider , what are his options ?

I'm happy there has been an appointment , is he available tout de suite ? .......maybe he can bring some stability and new ideas .
The Rotherham game will bring some pressure to bear on a team without confidence, a team who look scared of the ball and when they are in possession have little idea how to use it .
Welcome Slavisa Jokanovic.

The Putney End is the only non-segregated stand in England, permitted thanks to Fulham’s safe record with crowd control. It’s where away and ‘neutral’ fans gather and is arguably the most vocal, given the nature of visiting supporters. I often opt for the Putney End as it’s relatively easy to get tickets and you get to know away fans, plus observe tourists’ reactions to English football.

I stole the above few lines to illustrate , along with the location of the ground , why I think FFC is unique .
Sure , the trophy cabinet is threadbare and hardly creaking with the heavy load within but do we care ?

A test later today for the new coach and mighty interesting to see if , as things progress , he can halt the alarming rate of conceded goals from set pieces . It's stated elsewhere that no goals have been scored from corners by us ?
True ?
A new day, a new year and a new dawn . wink

Dembele ....a good riddance ?
Overrated and looks clumsy to me , maybe he will develop into a world beater , maybe Spurs are the ones to do justice to him but just now he's a luxury FFC can't afford .

Any thoughts of the lucky few stuck on Fulham ? smile

He's been loaned back to us until the end of the season. £5mil is a lot for a player who is out of contract in a few months so someone has seen something.
Is the deal back on then ?

Jose Mourinho at Fulham !
I kid you not , the special one at Craven Cottage , true .

Joking aside , that was a very important win . I've not seen the replay yet but have watched all the previous matches in dismay. Let's hope they can get out of this situation and remain in the division, rebuild and give the faithful something positive to admire .

Nice.
Couldn't hope for a better start. I've not seen any of the match just yet, takes a day or two for the official app to show the action.
A false dawn , perhaps but let's rejoice in the afterglow of the perfect start. ( drama queen , qui moi ? )

I just watched the Hull game. We looked pretty good I thought.

I have reservations about Button and place Betts above him in all departments , especially kicking.
Good away result v The Brewers, I predict a big final push up the table from here on and a place in the play offs is very likely. What happens then is a lottery but I also predict we get promotion back to the Premiership.

Weak spots , Martin looks a big unit and falls over a lot , Malone makes errors in possession usually resulting in the opponent scoring . I liked Matt Smith , he defended well , didn't score many though but now gone .
Who the flying feck is going to take the penalties , 2 from 9 is it ? Appalling .

Any predictions from anyone V Spuds ?
I'll start if you like: Whites 3 Spuds 1

There's no doubt the manager is talented , let's hope he stays.

I believe !
Life is full of surprises , last year English rugby was in the doldrums , along comes a wallaby , takes the bull by the horns and transforms a lacklustre pack into world beaters ( kiwis excluded ) , Leicester , another example .....
Brexit , Trump, Farage , Murray , etc etc , old timers like me just smile whimsical smiles and laugh at the world.
Fulham FC maybe have the chutzpah to achieve a surprise . We shall see.

Picture this scenario :

FFC make the play offs, ........down to the last match , ......score draw AET.

Down to penalties.

I think we're playing some excellent football, banana skin tonight ? I don't think so. I think we'll beat BFC and move into the top six by merit.
Returning to the penalty situation and the reluctance of the ball to find the back of the net along with the awful performance thus far of the the designated takers.

Who's your choice ?

I'm happy to see Button on the bench and Betts reinstated. I think he's the better footballer , he's passing out from the penalty area and general football skills surpass that of Button , in my opinion. I had my doubts about Malone but I won't criticize his latest performances.
I'm still not convinced that Chris Martin is worth his place , I think we're lacking a decisive strker in the mold of Barry Hayles or Saha....hard to find.

I applaud that performance at Norwich, I lived in Suffolk for 18 years and loved the banter between the tractor boys and Narich supporters in my local boozer , me being the incoming Londoner and Fulham fanboy.

What's next , Villa later today.

Can it boil down to the last match versus Wednesday ?

It's come to this, 5 pm Saturday is midnight here. I'll get a few San Migs , gin and tonics tune in to gentleman Jim , assisted by Jamie and listen to the commentary.
The more matured of you will remember crystal sets , transistor radios ,radio Luxemburg no central heating etc etc .
How about a spoonful of malt ?

Anyway ,bar power cuts , earthquake's,typhoons and pestilence I'll be roaring my team on. Win? Of course , a definite maybe. Fulhamish ,no , just pragmatic.

I think we've all noticed the time wasting tactics employed, we're not innocent. Why does it take Betts so much time to kick from the area, throw ins' ( I don't know where the apostrophe goes, I failed my 11 plus. ) are another bone of contention , most of Malone's throw in's ( spot the change ? ) are illegal too, anyway who cares a flying fig.

Chris Martin up front looks to me like a waste of a critical position , some one here must have seen him play live , I only see the video from the Fulham app. Can anyone enlighten me as to his value in the team ? The manager obviously does but I'm just asking.
Reading border on being a dirty side , I've no love for them after seeing the match, shame that because I like Berkshire, spent a lot of time in Windsor in the seventies.

Opinion about tonight's match , its an away win.

I had a friend back then in the seventies who had a men's fashion shop ( boutique then ) bang opposite Windsor Castle, he was funded and supplied the rags by Harold Tillman. Tillman in those days operated from the Elephant And Castle. Nearby on the Stockwell road there was a building Tillman used as an office/ warehouse / showroom. I went to a launch of some kind there , also in attendance was George Best , I think Tillman supplied his wardrobe. Happy days.
Windsor was a good place to be then.

I can see the point and value of Martins inclusion after your comments but he's a slow luxury surrounded by quicksilver, attack minded players. I know Zamora was similar in play mode but Zamora was a skilled striker ( after a difficult initiation ) who proved his worth.
I hope I've got it completely wrong about Chris Martin and he plays a blinder tonight.
I just can't see us losing .

I've just finished watching the match, first thoughts are jumbled and not in order of the play, Chris Martin is pants, Sessegnon was a poor substitution and was out of his depth, the referee I respect and admire. 100% correct decision regarding the penalty, what was Kalas thinking ? Not too surprised he's a loaner. Aluka is tricky and inspirational, pity he can't shoot.
Chris Martin useless lump.
Reading did their homework and deserve credit , Stam is no mug.
Malone mugged himself up doing swan lake , fool.
Ream, greatly improved and I thought did ok, all the other players in my opinion were dedicated and gave their all. Chris Martin impersonating a stricker is lacking.
It's galling to think that it's Reading v Huddersfield at Wembly but you have to say they deserve to be there, both beating the teams they faced.
As for us , we need a proven scorer of goals up front , stating the bleedin' obvious but it's true.
As a final comment I'd like to voice my opinion of Chris Martin, erm, wait ...get back to you on that one .
