Great player, if he's fit. We cannot splurge £34m on a guy with a dodgy knee. He has to finish 30+ games a season.NailedOn said:

They are trying to do some form of pay as you play deal .Still wouldn't resolve our issues,as excellent as he is we need a defensive midfielder and centre half .
Well it's a lot of money but I'm sure LVG would not have signed up had there been nothing for him to bargain with in the transfer market.
The signings thus far will probably only serve to make us competetive, not league winners. As Sundays' distinctly average performance showed we are a long way behind the top 4.
I fear we'll be on the wrong end of a few pastings this season - but it can't all be gravy, and out of adversity hopefully we'll get stronger.
I look forward to Di Maria and Mata linking up - Sunday's game was screaming for pace and quicker passing - a Scholes type player, short pass,, move it along, quick feet - I can see Mata doing alot of that in the right place on the pitch, he won't get box-to-box like Scholes did and for all of Scholes's poor tackling he put himself about, Mata is not strong enough in the tackle but he is a very good player.
I was dissapointed by our ball retention and for all Feltchers' quality he was really poor - first touch was appaling at times.
if its LVGs way then we have to wait and see but that was a mile off a vintage united performanc on Sunday.

Is this the new Utd way? To allow opposing defenders to get to the half way line with the ball? Sunderland did the same to be fair - I much prefer to watch teams press the opposition and hassle them, cos you get the ball back quicker (esp against the lesser teams theoretically) - a most un-Utd like display ...
To watch Citeh break from defence last night time and again with pace - that's what you used to do to teams. It's what you need to be effectice. Di Maria has quick feet and a smart brain and won't look to just turn inside and pass back ala Cleverley and Fletcher.
IF you get Vidal (I'm not sure you will) you simply can't fail to improve. Time to get rid of a few isn't it, but let's face it, who's queueing up to get them?

It depends on the squad.
Looking at citeh / chelski squads strength in depth across the park, two premier league at least class players in all positions???
United - not all of the first team is premier league class imho....
you buy, you play, you drop players into the squad positions. absence of quality in one position clearly is exposing united's lack of quality in other positions. Historically, a CR would hide the fact that Valecia or Carrick were st. You can't ask Cleverly to hide the fact that Fletcher was st on Sunday he's not double the quality of fletch sadly...

I think confidence is playing a big part as well, the average or young players we have are having to come on and try and really influence a game, rather than in times past when they could come on with us in control and ahead and ease into the games and get some confidence.

But he's been setting up Ronaldo. Your lot have been setting up Welbeck.
Yes and now he will be setting up RVP, Rooney and Mata...Makes me laugh how everyone on here was saying "you've no chance of signing DiMaria" etc etc and now we are doing your all going on about how he's not that great, he won't fit in to our team or the funniest one was how we've only signed him to please the fans Yes of course MUFC are going to spend £60 million on a player Van Gaal does'nt want, just to please the fans. Laughable

Dont know about others but I am pretty jealous. Balls to the fee, we have been had over a barrel too but fees seem to be all over the place this season!Makes me laugh how everyone on here was saying "you've no chance of signing DiMaria" etc etc and now we are doing your all going on about how he's not that great, he won't fit in to our team or the funniest one was how we've only signed him to please the fans Yes of course MUFC are going to spend £60 million on a player Van Gaal does'nt want, just to please the fans. Very very good signing and you can only sign one at a time so it takes time to put it all together.
Do you still have Rafael?
