Scholesy really is not a fan of LVG is he
Paul Scholes is united through and through, he knows how well that team should be performing. Like a lot of people he's a frustrated fan, he just has a lot more knowledge about the workings of the club. Can that, not seen either.

United haven't played fast flowing football in years, around 2008/09 I think. Since then its been functional and effective with the odd great performance like the Arsenal 8-2 game.
The aim this year is top 4, if we get there by grinding out results then I am happy enough.
Give this man a prize ,I keep saying it.The aim this year is top 4, if we get there by grinding out results then I am happy enough.
I do think teams are wary of our attacking players and set up accordingly. Teams have been defensive against us for years and so it's difficult to accommodate fast thrusting players as much as we might like to see them. The game's going technical with picking teams off a'la Barca. That's what LVG is planning, concentrating on sorting out a shaky defence (much improved) and building possession from there. The problem is we haven't been technically good enough to play passing flowing football and our big players haven't turned up. LVG's job is to get them to enjoy their football and perform well. I think there's pressure being felt by the manager and the players and so it's less enjoyable and their game suffers. Hopefully we'll finish in the top 3/4 and we'll get into the champions league proper. The players will see that as a positive and will feel a little less pressure, go away enjoy their summer's and come back and have a great season next.
We may see some of what we would like to see in the upcoming games against Arsenal/Chelsea/City as they will look to deny us possession and create hopefully exposing their defensive frailties.

I think so called lesser teams who would have a go at you instead of sitting back and inviting the inevitable might be a lot more successful than they think ... witness Burnley who seemed to play a much more attacking game from the highlights I saw recently. Didn't see the game but by all accounts Newcastle were woeful (at home) - just sat back and defended - no wonder your possession stats look good.
The Arsenal game next week is a good pointer - it's a one-off - no points at stake, so interesting to see whether Wenger actually looks for a result at OT or a draw. They'll be out of the CL next week so fixture build-up not a problem.
The Scousers beating you at theirs and sailing past for fourth would be good though ...

Burnley were ultimately beaten 3-1. Yes they showed endeavour running the channels and getting some joy in the first half. Other teams have beaten Utd this year sitting back and hitting on the break it's a bit of a conundrum for the so called lesser teams. Do they go for it or allow Utd possession and hope to nick it?

I was at the game last night and you are partially correct, Newcastle were indeed woeful, but so were Man U! The current Newcastle team is poor and lacking in creative ideas which is why we're floundering mid-table. However this was the worse Manchester United team I've ever seen and were similarly lacking in creative ideas and looked ponderous in every position. Neither team looked like scoring and a nil-nil would have been a much fairer result.Yes, Man U had more possession but seemed incapable of turning that into any real dominance as most of it was passing about in the middle of the pitch. Overall Newcastle had the clearer goal-scoring opportunities but we lack any real talent in the forwards at the moment and it's no surprise that they weren't put away. Ultimately it took a Newcastle defensive error to gift Man U a goal in the final minute, rather than any product of all the possession.
It was a poor poor game and was more a measure of who wanted the 3 points more than a measure of which team are less woeful.

First time I've seen it was tonight on the news... sure, Evans spat, but not sure you can say it was *at Cisse, just seemed to be in his general direction. Not the best time to choose to do it though, has to be said...
was my assessment too. Apparently Utd supporters are picketing the FA about it tonight, I couldn't make out the chant fully on the news but think it was "We want 12, we want 12'
I see most united fans are panicking about the next round of fixtures coming up, but I personally can't wait. We may not be playing well, but in big games and especially derbies, form can count for very little. Now I'm not saying we will win them all, but I see it as a opportunity to put some space between us and below, on the flip side of most people saying we'll be seventh by end of this month.

Who is going on Monday night?
We're going to be in tier 3 of the SAF stand. Often a bit iffy to judge where the ball is from up there. But I'm glad to be going.
I think it could be a close game. LVG needs to field a team who are up for it with Wazza up front.
I'm quietly confident for the game, Arsenal have habitually rolled over at OT and I think they will again. We're going to be in tier 3 of the SAF stand. Often a bit iffy to judge where the ball is from up there. But I'm glad to be going.

Just read this from Carragher in the mail. He speaks a lot of sense.

Di Maria looks a shadow of his former self, I agree with Scholes that they should give him a rest for a few games, Januzaj looks up for it so I'd give him a run.
Definitely agree with this!Evans has a 6 game ban btw.
